Summer Solstice</H5></center>

The Sun has moved into Cancer, and with it comes a shift in mood, to include more emotion, more depth of feelings and more sentimentality.  This is Cancer's pushback to the excessive emphasis Gemini has placed on things like logic, rationality, analysis and objectivity for the past several weeks.

Every sign tries to balance out the extremes of perspective in the sign that came before.  For Gemini, that's the priority of mind and intellect as the primary channel of information.  Cancer's notorious "emotionalism" is the counterbalance for that.

Cancer is one of the Zodiac's three water signs, arguably the most readily responsive.  It interprets the world primarily through its instincts and intuition.  It's exceptional sensitivity easily crosses the line between what's known through objective, provable facts and information received from psychic impressions.  It doesn't get as much respect as it deserves given its accuracy.

For various reasons people are often reluctant to call their "feelings" what they really are.  So they use words like "hunches" and "spidey-sense" as if those provide both a little more respect and some distance they can count on if and when life takes yet another turn and they may have to adjust those impressions to align them again.

It *is*, however, a super-power if you want to tap into it -- and during times when the Sun travels through Cancer -- or when any strong Cancer energy is around -- life makes it easy to practice.  Try not to waste the opportunity.  Pay attention to the things your mind *and your gut* tell you.  When they agree, you know you're on to something.  When they don't, pay real close attention to those feelings.  If push comes to shove they could actually save your life.

When the Sun is in Cancer, people are sensitive, gentle, and protective. They rely more on emotions than logic ... and their attitudes are colored by caution, intuition, and instinct.

The outlook turns sentimental, sympathetic, traditional. People focus on security issues, emotional connections, family matters, domestic circumstances, and their private lives.

They're also concerned with feelings, their ability to empathize, and with memories and situations from the past. Under stress, they become resentful, fearful, moody and compulsive. Reactions are obsessive, overwrought, and the general mood is depressed, self-pitying and fretful.
