TO answer my own question - I did buy some KIN. I transferred my Bitcoin Cash sale into KIN.

FOrtunately I have left BTC that came out of the BItcoin Cash on Bittrex. In a matter of minutes I bought ETH, transferred it to the ETH address which I've used for the KIN sale registration. Then I jumped to the https://kin.kik.com/register/ page to find out the KIN contract address, transferred ETH there and coila ... My KINs are safely stored in MyEtherWallet.

Ervin - I bought in as well.  Unfortunately, I consider it a failed ICO.  The bloom is definitely off the rose for now.  Long term not, but the China regulations - banning ICOs and shutting the exchanges has dampened the enthusiasm.

There's still a lot of kin for sale, 5 days after the ICO.

Still, I think this is just a temporary blip.  I'm still bullish long term on the blockchain + cryptocurrencies.  

I knew it was a speculative bet, but I'm still curious to see how kik is going to spend the money to make a better product.
