<hr>The song that we are going to hear now is an oriental - Venezuelan merengue called El rollo de mi compadre (The roll of my *compadre*). The authors of this song are: Pedro José Mago, the lyrics and, Hernán Marín, the music. The first, has been Rector of the Universidad de Oriente (UDO-Venezuela) and an individual linked to the world of numbers and the educational sciences already retired, also writes verses in his spare time as a form of hobby and hobby, and the second, he is a consecrated artist linked to the world of traditional Venezuelan popular music and the song that still continues to delight us with his art.


The roll of my compadre is the song Nro. 8 of the Musical Production Ofrenda de Amor (2007) that will realize the University of the East (UDO-Venezuela). This artistic work was conceived to pay tribute to love in a context of Venezuelan traditional music. All the lyrics of the songs are by Pedro Mago and the music and adaptations were made by the singer Hernán Marín. The arrangements and the musical direction were in charge of who writes these lines.


The oriental merengue forms one of the most graceful and versatile popular genres of the Venezuelan musical repertoire. This type of music was born, initially, as a danzario-danceable simile of couples who cross paths and turn intoxicated by the happy and contagious rhythm, by its syncopated rhythm and irregular accent. In this case, it is a slightly calmer and slower merengue that has an emphasis on vocal performance.


The term roll refers, in a general way, to an object that, due to its cylindrical shape, can roll. It can also be anything that is wrapped around a cylinder and that, from the turns of the cylinder, can be deployed.


As for today's song, The roll of my compadre makes reference, in colloquial language, to a cumbersome, tedious or cause some discomfort as the whole issue that arises in a family affair as the husband's doubt if he, in reality, it is or not the father who says his wife is his son.
