### 1. Bancor Begins Cross-Blockchain Token Trading Between Ethereum and EOS

> Decentralized liquidity network Bancor announced it had completed its partnership with EOS to provide cross-blockchain token swaps in a press release shared with Cointelegraph Nov. 5.
Originally announced in September, Bancor has now expanded to the EOS blockchain, using its decentralized application (DApp) BancorX to allow users to convert between Ethereum and EOS-based tokens, without exchanges.
The move is the first of its kind, Bancor says in its press release, and paves the way for “vastly more blockchains” to be included in such cross-blockchain trading.
“The ability to easily convert assets cross-chain points to a future in which token projects and users are empowered to seamlessly interact with any blockchain which best suits their needs,” Bancor co-founder and head of business development Galia Benartzi commented in the announcement.
BancorX currently supports a raft of Ethereum ERC20 tokens, and uses its own BNT token to make the cross-blockchain transfers. The company also reported that their cross-blockchain DApp was built in partnership with LiquidEOS, Bancor’s EOS “Block Producer” (BP) – the equivalent of a miner on the Bitcoin (BTC) network.
In the same announcement today, Bancor announced its Bprotocol Foundation would transfer $10 billion in value to the EOS blockchain using the tool to “encourage EOS development and token liquidity, in addition to serving as a symbol of faith in the security and promise of the EOS blockchain.”
BNT itself had reacted only marginally to the news at press time, having faced a troubled year after Bancor became one of the worst-performing Initial Coin Offering (ICO) projects to launch in 2017.

### 2. 부산시, 한국형 블록체인 허브 도시 도약 선언

> 부산시는 지난 1일 금융생태계 조성을 위한 아이디어를 얻기 위해 블록체인 분야 전문가들과 간담회를 가졌다고 3일 밝혔다.
이번 간담회에는 싱가포르에서 활동 중인 블록체인 관련 창업, 플랫폼, ICO(암호화폐공개) 관련 분야 대표, 변호사 등 전문가들이 참여해 부산의 블록체인 특구 조성 및 나아갈 방향에 대한 다양한 의견을 제시했다.
부산시는 “금융중심지로 지정되어 동북아 금융경제중심지로 나아가기 위해 노력 중이며, 부산을 블록체인 특구로 지정해 금융신기술을 가진 기업들이 활동할 수 있는 환경조성을 희망하고 있다”고 밝혔다.
전문가들은 먼저 명확한 가이드라인 제시가 되어야한다고 입을 모았다.  ICO 피해자 보호방안, 자금세탁 문제에 대한 대안마련이 필요다는 주장이다. 아울러 시장을 무조건 열어주고 규제를 풀어주기보다 좋은 기업들이 잘할 수 있는 환경을 마련하고, 기업을 유치할 때 제시할 가이드라인 마련이 선행되어야 한다는 것이 공통적인 의견이었다.

또 다른 관계자는 “블록체인 관련 업체들이 현재 해외 송금시 애로를 겪고 있는데, 지역금융업계에서 나서 이런 부분을 해소해준다면 관련 기업들의 투자와 운영에 큰 도움이 될 것”이라고 말했다.
블록체인 거래는 현재 정부차원에서 보증을 하지 않고 있다. 이에 대해 부산시는 “부산만의 가이드라인을 만들어 이를 따르는 기업에 라이센스를 준다면 부산만의 특색있는 기업 유치가 가능할 것”이라며 “지스타가 개최되는 도시인 부산에서 게임 분야 회사 ICO를 모으면 좋을 것”이라며 아이디어를 제시했다.
유재수 부시장은 “한국의 기술력 가진 기업이 규제와 자금거래가 어려워 외부로 빠져나가는 상황이 안타깝다”면서 “블록체인 기반의 리서치 기업 등도 부산에서 활동할 수 있도록 금융생태계를 만들 필요가 있다”고 강조했다.
한편, 부산시는 블록체인 관련 기업들을 적극적으로 유치하여 부산금융단지에 한국형 블록체인 허브를 만들 수 있도록 해킹방지와 사용자권익보호 해결을 포함해 중앙정부에 정책 건의를 할 예정이다.

제주도에 이어 부산도 블록체인 특구 조성을 검토한다고 합니다. 단발성인지 지속적으로 진행할 것인지는 더 지켜봐야겠네요.
