With this post, i want to share the kinda funny experience that happened to me while i was looking for my lunch.
I was in Bali at the time, and me being me, i love to go to the mall.
So, as the mall person that i am, i went to the mall to go looking for my food as always.
The closest mall in the area from the place where i stayed is the Beachwalk Shopping Center.
I love the mall since its closest one and i can just basically walk there.
Though i already went to the mall few times, i still found the mall lay out to be difficult and strange.
Its hard for me to find restaurant and i just dont feel like eat in the food court.
I went round and round till i finally saw Sushi Tei.
Sushi Tei is a very familiar restaurant for me as i went there very often.
I thought to myself that if i cant find anywhere new to eat i would rather just eat in Sushi Tei.
I can find many food that i want and actually liked there so i dont need to think much and make sure that i came back with satisfied tummy.
I walk to approach Sushi Tei, but suddenly, i saw something right before Sushi Tei restaurant located.
Its another restaurant!
Its another Japanese restaurant!
I saw that the menu from the outside and i asked few question to the worker that waited inside.
The restaurant is totally not for me because they’re mostly served beef and its in buffet.
I dont eat beef.
I asked again if there’s a non beef and non buffet menu and the worker said yes eventhough the variation is limited because its not what they mainly sell there.
Well, as long i have something to eat and its somewhere new that i have never ever try before, why not?
Here is the name of the restaurant, the name is Gyu Kaku Japanese BBQ.
Once again, this place is really not for me but i just really crave to go somewhere i have never visited before.
From the outside, we cant see what i5 looks like from the inside which i find them quite interesting.
Mostly, the restaurant in the mall will have an open window theme and let the people from outside to see what it looks like from the inside.
Maybe because the future customers can get interested with the ambience inside the restaurant.
But they dont di that so i kinda get curious why they choose to not showing the inside of the restaurant to the future customers.
This is the first Gyu Kaku that i ever visited so i dont know if its really their concept or is it only happened to this one restaurant because maybe they need to customize them with the space that they have in this Beachwalk Shopping Center.
Here is what the inside looks like.
The design of the interior looks pretty.
But to be honest, i really dont like their blue sofa that i have shown in the last pic.
I think that it doesnt match with the whole theme of this restaurant and i really dont get why they decided to use that sofa.
The sofa and the restaurant gave a totally different vibes and feeling from each other.
I feel like the sofa gave more “sea” or “beach” vibes with the design.
Though the restaurant located in a mall right in front of the beach, they didnt adapt the beach theme inside the restuarant other than this sofa so it amkes this sofa looks awkward and out of place.
Eventhough i said that, as we can see from the picture that i have shown in the beginning, i choose to eat in this sofa.
Because they give more of privacy feeling.
I like to be in a close space when i eat especially when i eat by myself.
The cute thing about where i sit is they have this big window right beside it.
I think its very cute and ver convenient so i will not walk out of the restaurant looking strange because i can prepare myself first.
I mean, i dont always carry mirror everywhere and even if i carry them, of course its small so bigger mirror like this is really appreciated.
This is what the table looks like.
There’s a stove in every table so eventhough i will not eat bbq, i still need to sit in the table that have the stove in there.
After we arrived in the table, the waiter will immediately come to give the plate, sauce, and everything.
Like in many other place right now.
They give this barcode for us to scan when we want to look for the menu.
I like this new trend because it means that i dont have to touch the menu that probably get touched by hundreds other people and because its mostly made of some kind of paper, i am not sure that they will clean them regularly because their menu will get ruined real quick if its happened.

As we can see from the picture that i have shown that their menu is mostly consist of beef.
Such a long and big menu but there’s so little variety that i can choose to eat.
I understand though, and i already know what i will face when i entered this restaurant.
So, what will i eat in this bbq restaurant?
You might get really surprised because its kinda such a weird thing.
I kinda get embarrassed talked about it, but here it is:

I choose to order two food.
One of them is salad and one of them is soup.
In Gyu Kaku, they have three different salad:
- Horenso Salad
- Wakame Salad
- Japanese Chicken Salad
The one that i choose to have is the wakame salad.
Since the night before, i crave to eat salad a lot because the day before i ate something heavy and my stomach feel bloated so i need something that can help my stomach feeling a little bit better, and for me thats gonna be the salad.
I always love to eat salad when my stomach feel bloated and full from the previous eating.
When i saw that this place have salad, i just come inside and decided to eat here.
As long as the veggies is fresh i dont really care about the other.
The difference between the wakame salad and the other salad is the wakame salad use seaweed as one of the material.
I think that its a little mistake on my part to order the wakame slaad because the soup that i ordered use seaweed too.
I should have ordered the horenso salad, i think it will match better with the soup that i ordered with it.
Anyway, since this is a japanese bbq restaurant and they usually use a lot of veggie in the bbq restayrant, i am not worried that the veggie will not be fresh.
The salad is absolutely taste lovely, its just maybe the seaweed part is a little bit too much.
I feel like i dont want to see seaweed in few days because of that.
The price of wakame salad is 29.000 idr.
This is the miso soup.
They have four variant of soup here:
- Karubi Soup
- Miso Soup
- Egg Soup
- Wakame Soup
The one that i ordered is obviously the miso soup.
I dont know why but i fell in love with miso soup since the first time that i ever try them few years back.
The saltiness of miso soup offer a lot of refreshing feelings inside of my body.
The price is 29.000 idr.
