What is the Steem Proposal System (SPS) and why is it VERY important?

I have noticed that the community has not made a big announcement regarding the Steem proposal system, which I found extremely strange. Why an important system representing pure decentralization in Steem is not so recognized by the community? What is happening?

Perhaps there is a probability that I am simply missing important articles about it, but I suppose it would be nice to explain the why of this system and its importance here. I will try to explain it in a very simple way so that any kind of living entity can understand it (even if you are a raccoon).

## What is the Steem Proposal System (SPS)?

The Steem Proposal System is a protocol developed by @blocktrades very similar to the one used in the BitShares blockchain, this system allows the Steem community to approve proposals (creation of new projects, updating of existing projects or any type of proposal that could benefit the Steem community in any aspect).

This system was created with the objective of the community deciding which projects to finance and valuing them depending on their contribution to the blockchain, for example: https://steemit.com/steemdao/@inertia/proposal-dev-portal-documentation-q4-2019.

The proposal I mentioned above seeks to improve the documentation of the Steem API, for what purpose? Simple: Documentation is extremely important so that developers in Steem (and those who can potentially join) know how to work to create DApps in the blockchain, without DApps, Steem would not be half of what it is today.

> DApps, or Decentralized Applications, are a new category of blockchain applications which are transforming the way businesses operate. As the name suggests, DApps are decentralized, which means they are not controlled by any single authority. A DApp utilizes blockchain technology, and runs on a peer-to-peer network as opposed to a single network of computers. Source

## Who can participate in SPS?

This is something that at first I wondered about because of the confusion I had, but I'm happy to tell you that anyone who has an incredible idea for Steem can be part of the SPS and make their own proposal. One thing you should also keep in mind is that to publish a proposal you must pay a commission of 10 SBD. This is done with the intention of avoiding "spam" or worthless proposals.

## How do I get the funds for my proposal? Any proposal can be funded?

Obviously, no, not just any proposal can be funded.

**How does this work?** In a very similar way to witnesses, to approve a proposal, it must be voted by users, depending on the amount of SP you have, will be the weight of your vote, the more SP collects a proposal, the better positioned it will be and will become part of the first 3 proposals, this way your proposal will be funded correctly as long as it remains among the first 3 proposals with the greatest support of the community. Although something very important that I must explain: Exactly for your proposal to be funded it must be above the position of gtg's "Return proposal". This works as a filter so that only proposals above the "Return proposal" are funded.

## How can I see the proposals that currently exist?

Although there is a way to enter from steemitwallet, I feel that it is not a very practical way and personally I do not feel comfortable using it, on the other hand, as I mentioned in the cover image of my publication, there is the page called SteemProposals.com, a platform created by @dmitrydao and, without a doubt, is the best platform that can currently be used to see the proposals currently available (and those to come). If you want to access the list of currently available proposals, you can go directly from this link: https://steemproposals.com/proposals. From there you will even be able to vote for the proposals that you like and that you think can contribute more to the blockchain.

> Interesting information: Steem Proposal System is not officially called that way, its official name is Steem DAO (which means Decentralized Autonomous Organization), this was done because 8 months ago Steemit, Inc requested this name change in order to be able to present this system to investors under the name steem.dao. Why the change? Because in the cryptocurrencies world the term DAO is widely used to refer to systems similar to the one implemented by Steem. But, it is also equally valid to use the name Steem Proposal System when talking about this system, so don't worry.

## And that's all!

I don't think this article is going to have a lot of visibility, so if you can resteem this information, it would be amazing. If you have any questions about SPS or are interested in creating your own proposal if you have an incredible idea for the community, don't hesitate to leave a comment and I'll help you as much as I can.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least **2 SBD** worth and should receive **124 votes**. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.
