Mount Bromo, Volcano #2 in Indonesia EN/DE

I was staying these days with my local
Friend in Surabaya and we have been planing the next volcano trip to mount bromo. It is an very active volcano around 2370m above the sea level which erupts every few years and it was since a long time on my travel list.

Ich war also bei meinem local
Freund in Surabaya und wir planten den nächsten Vulkanausflug nach Mount Bromo. Der Vulkan ist sehr aktiv und liegt auf 2370m, alle paar Jahre bricht er aus und war schon seit langer Zeit auf meiner Liste.

So a few more friends of us wanted to join us and we rented a car with a driver which costs us 500.000 idr (37$) and started to drive south on a Friday evening at 9pm. We reached around 2 am and slept for 2 more hours before we started to hike to the sunrise point which is on 2770m. Most people hire jeeps to drive around which costs about 300.000-400.000 idr (22$-27$). It's a sand and very dusty trek, especially next to all the jeeps but we decided to walk all the way once it's just a few kilometers. Usually the entrance price for bule ( foreigner) is 300.000 idr (22$) which we just skipped with a short cut.

Also haben wir ein Auto mit einem Fahrer gemietet, was uns 500.000 Idr (32€) kostete und sind an einem Freitagabend um 21 Uhr nach Süden aufgebrochen. Gegen 2 Uhr morgens sind wir angekommen und haben noch 2 geschlafen bevor wir uns auf den Weg zum Sonnenaufgang gemacht habe. Die meisten Leute mieten Jeeps was ungefähr 300.000-400.000 Idr (20€ -25€$) kostet. Da es nur Sandig ist, ist es also eine sehr staubige Weg, besonders neben all den Jeeps.Dennoch haben wir uns entschieden den ganzen Weg zu gehen, sobald es nur ein paar Kilometer ist. Normalerweise beträgt der Eintrittspreis für Bule (Ausländer) 300.000 Idr (20€$), die wir durch eine Abkürzung übersprungen Haben.

After taking pictures we walked back to the direction of the volcano, took a few more cool pictures of the scenery. We also wanted to have as less people as possible at the volcano so we walked slowly once we have been very tired anyway and reached the foot of bromo around 10am where we had a little breakfast.The volcano is just busy in the morning because all the tour bring the people there during that time. once we hiked up the stairs there were ständig a few hundred people very close to each other and right next to the stairs. So I decided to walk myself around the volcano, once I walked 100 meters there was not a single person.

Auf dem weg haben wir noch ein paar coole Bilder von der Landschaft gemacht.
Wir wollten auch so wenig Leute wie möglich am Vulkan haben. Da alle Touren nur morgen operieren ist es also nur früh sehr voll mit Touristen und schwächt dann langsam ab. Wir sind also Ca 10 Uhr morgens angekommen und haben ein kleines Frühstück gegessen.Sobald wir die Treppe hoch erklimmt haben standen einige hundert Menschen sehr dicht nebeneinander und direkt an der Treppe. Ich wollte also Action und gute Fotos und hab mich auf den Weg gemacht den Vulkan zu umrunden.Sobald ich 100 Meter gegangen war, gab es keine einzige Person mehr.

The hike was actually extremely dangerous and even i thought what the hell am I doing here. The path was slippery and sometimes just a few cm wide. I climbed a bit around and went further in and the whole time he volcano was making very angry sounds.

Die Wanderung war wirklich extrem gefährlich und selbst ich dachte was zum Teufel mache ich hier. Der Pfad war rutschig und manchmal nur wenige cm breit. Ich kletterte ein bisschen herum und ging weiter hinunter und die ganze Zeit machte der Vulkan sehr wütende Geräusche.

A few of my friends didn't even went up because of the sulfur smell which made a little dizzy sometimes. After around one hour walking along the rim I reached the stairs again, walked myself down and met my friends there which just said I am crazy:).

Ein paar meiner Freunde sind wegen des Schwefelgeruchs der manchmal ein wenig schwindelig machte nicht einmal zum Ende der Treppen gegangen. Nach etwa einer Stunde Fußmarsch entlang des Kraters erreichte ich wieder die Treppe, ging hinunter und traf meine Freunde dort, die gerade sagten dass ich verrückt sei :).

From there on we walked about 1 hour back to the car and been super exhausted from the weather, less sleep and excitement. We reached around Sunday evening very tired surabaya where we all passed out.

Von da an sind wir ca. 1 Stunde zurück zum Auto gelaufen und waren sehr müde vom Wetter, weniger Schlaf und Aufregung.Wir erreichten am Sonntagabend sehr erschöpft aber glücklich Surabaya.

Hi....wiedermal sehr geile Aufnahmen und Geschichte 👍
Ja der Bromo Besuch liegt bei mir schon knapp 20Jahre zurück😉damals waren nicht sehr viele Besucher/Touris dort!!!!
Wir hatten den Trip von Bali aus gemacht mit unserem balinesischen Freund auf der Low Budget Basis....war ein tolles Erlebnis an das ich mich gerne erinnere🤗

Vielen dank ! Und hat der trip also ca 10€ gekostet + essen. Auch wenn der Massentourismus viel zerstört denke ich den Vulkan sah damals ähnlich aus ? Seit ihr auch eine Runde gelaufen? Der Pfad wird wohl etwa so breiter gewesen sein.

Servus....ich kann nicht mehr sagen was uns der Trip gekostet hat war 1999*
Aber von den Bildern sieht er ähnlich aus-leider sind unsere Fotos nicht so super wie deine...wir haben Dias gemacht und sie nachträglich eingescannt!
Hab noch ein paar Fotos gefunden...als Vergleich was die Breite des Pfades angeht😋

Habe darüber noch keinen Post gemacht, aber wir sind auch umsonst rein, sind durch die asche mit dem Roller gefahren, hatten den von Einheimischen 50 km entfernt klargemacht. Vielleicht mache ich auch nochmal nen Beitrag aber habe gerade keinen bock meine Bilder für 30 cent zu verbrennen:)
