"Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can. Apologize when you should and let go of what you can't change." -- Drake

###
Rapper Quote

This one is rich. What can one do with a quote that makes perfect sense but is uttered by a guy who doesn’t “practice what he preaches?” And to top it off, it’s a multi-level quote. First, there is insightful, compelling wisdom offered, “Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness.”
Most of us are familiar with grudges, either because we have had one on someone, or someone else has had one on us. We know they’re silly and accomplish nothing but a lot of bad feelings, usually including other friends or family members.
Grudges are hard to break, aren’t they? They’re also pretty easy to put an end to, if we really want to. Trouble is, not a lot of us want to end our feuds. It would mean that we gave in… we lost. And that’s unacceptable to most of us.

If we read the quote and knew nothing else about Drake, we’d think, “This Drake guy sounds like a really level-headed dude, and he’s probably so friendly that everybody just loves him.”
“Laugh when you can. Apologize when you should and let go of what you can’t change.”
So, after making the unknowing person think he’s one of the sweetest, most thoughtful and friendly guys on earth, he then offers wisdom on how to navigate life. Like I said, he’s really a thoughtful, level-headed guy.

The problem here is, I happen to know this guy Drake has demonstrated for years that he carries grudges and feuds with other rappers. Whether it’s all real or all act, his public behavior is certainly miles apart from his thoughtful quote.
Since I knew a little, (I’m not a fan, and I could not identify even one of his songs), I did a quick search on Duckduckgo and got a quick confirmation, that shows many more Drake feuds than I could have ever guessed.
Here is a rundown I found in a 2015 vh1.com [article.](http://www.vh1.com/news/41010/drake-rap-beefs/) I also list what they did to Drake or vice versa. There may have been more added to the list since then.

***Pusha T***, (dissed him)
***Common***, (called him “soft”)
***Tyga***, (said he’s “fake”)
***Jay Z***, (suggested Drake wasn’t an art connoisseur like he, (Jay Z) is)
***Ludacris***, (Drake made him mad in an interview)
***DMX***, (said he didn’t like Drake, and gave examples of why)
***Diddy***, (because Drake made a version of Diddy’s song)
***Meek Mill***, (accused Drake of not writing his own raps)
***Chris Brown***, (because Drake dated Rihanna after her 1st breakup with Brown)

It definitely seems like rapping, in addition to being a form of musical entertainment, is also a big rapper battleground, and Drake seems to have many offensive and defensive positions to man on the battlefield when it comes to grudges and feuds.
I personally think one can hold a grudge without there also being a feud, but I don’t think one can have a feud without there also being a grudge.
I could probably stop right here, having already made the point that this quote isn’t only ridiculous, (due to who it comes from), but it really makes me wonder how a guy like Drake, who has so many enemies, could even have the chutzpah to say something like this. Except chutzpah isn’t really a requirement anymore.
I think we’ve finally reached that point in time when “celebrities” can be as insulting, hypocritical, demeaning and nasty as they want, and there will be a bunch of fans that love and defend them, and a bunch of haters that hate them.
It’s a narrative being pushed by deep pockets and shallow souls.
It’s run by big tech and has one purpose for its existence – division.
It’s called “Social Media.” Rappers like Drake, with multiple running feuds and grudges, are just making use of one of the reasons it was created.
One thing is pretty clear; Drake’s “perfect happiness” is “being wasted” by feuds he’s fighting and grudges he’s holding.

I've written this opinionated piece as I was inspired by a quote I received as one of the writing prompts I got in a daily email from @shadowspub. The quote, from Drake is “Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can. Apologize when you should and let go of what you can't change.”
Thanks for reading!
