Each time I decide to stop
I’d wanted to give it all up
It just wasn’t fair to continue
Bleeding his loving heart I knew

There’d been so many ‘last times’ for me
I’ve lost count as the years flee
But this last ‘last time’ I’d meant it
To quit this unwholesome secret habit
So I’ll never have to return
...Using the bridge
Now...
Surely this strive is just in vain
Why! I just did the thing again
How will I explain it this time?
Surely this mistake cannot be mine
But there was none else where I stood
... On the wrong side of the bridge.
This time...
Wondering how my chastity I’ll restore
I heard a voice I’d never heard before
But sincerely it’s been speaking all the while
A quiet voice barely louder than a smile
Saying in His quiet appealing way
....why don’t you burn the bridge?
