<center> Matt 14:27-30</center>
_'But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”
28 Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”_
Many times we may find ourselves outside of our comfort zone due to the fact that we are trying to do the will of God, living a Godly life in the likeness of Christ is not easy and takes courage. Peter was able to walk on water due to the initial boldness he showed in trusting that Christ's power would be sufficient to allow him to walk on the Sea of Galilee. Nevertheless when he was faced directly with the strong wind and the unsettling waves fear overcame him, he lost his focus on Christ and he began to sink. After crying 'Lord, save me!" Jesus immediately saved him and brought him into the boat. Whilst Peter's initial leap of faith was enough to get him onto the water it was not firm enough to withstand the fear of the blustery winds.

For me the main take from Matt 14:27-30 is that only when our personal boldness is matched with our faith in the Lord can the power of Christ work through us to do amazing things. The moment Peter had no other choice than to cry 'Lord, save me!' his faith and focus were solely on Christ just as when he first stepped onto the water. May we remain steadfast, bold and fully focused on Christ and by the grace of God the sinking feeling brought about by fear will not interfere with our works done for the glory of Christ.
