I meant to comment on this yesterday when I saw it in the feed.  So much to think about here...but one comment you made reminded me of me ;-)  You said you were a shy child, and so was I.  That, in combination of being 'boy crazy'.  Not sure how this shaped my view, but mostly I don't like the look of someone who is too 'stylized'.  I like a more natural look, someone who is funny and nice and likes to get out and do stuff usually ranks in the 'attractive' category for me.  

Remember the 60's game Mystery Date?  All those guys seemed so douchy, but I actually thought the dud(e) was cute!  LOL
