This publication begins a series of three publications dedicated to **good verbal habits.** On this occasion I will be presenting **"Pronunciation, Articulation and Diction"**.

Oral communication contains three basic aspects: verbal, vocal and gestural. In this chapter we shall talk about the verbal.

Great experts like Dale Carnegie recommended this. However, we are not going to present it as if we were in a bar drinking beers with our friends. This is where the three "C's" come into play. These C's stand for: "With communication awareness", everyone should create this awareness, but speakers, announcers, politicians, salespeople and people who communicate professionally should never lose this awareness: we are always communicating; so we should be attentive to what we say and how we say it.

An important part of the verbal aspect of oral communication is pronunciation. When I was a teenager, there was something that many people expressed after I said something, and it was: "what did you say?" or "ah?" or they would ask the one who was closer to me what I had said. My pronunciation was terrible. I spoke with my teeth, more out of insecurity and fear of expressing myself, than because I didn't know how to pronounce, but in the same way I couldn't understand what I was saying. As the years went by, I improved and today, although it sometimes happens to me (which should not happen), it is the exception. Pronouncing and articulating words well is extremely important, otherwise we run the risk of not being understood and having to repeat everything.

There are many exercises to improve diction and our pronunciation and in the audio corresponding to this lesson I present three that can help you improve your way of pronouncing the words.
