### No, I'm Not Getting All Mushy Here
Or maybe I am.

I wasn't going to write a post today. The plan was to answer some comments and go looking for more posts to read. Well, I've been doing that, but I got to thinking—I've had a pretty good week on STEEM.

I doubt anyone pays attention to what I'm doing but me, but there's generally one day each week (often more), where I get next to nothing done. Case in point. Last week, I was doing quite well Monday through Wednesday—posting, commenting, curating, you know, getting stuff done—and then Thursday hit, I got distracted, that led to derailment, and by the time I knew it, Thursday was over. I rebounded somewhat on Friday, but then slacked off again on Saturday (which is supposed to be slack day, anyway).

This week, though, I managed to stay on STEEM task all throughout the week, and so far, I'm having a decent day again today. This is the way I prefer it—get most of the work done during the week so I can supplement on Saturday, instead of trying to play catch up. It's not like I have any specific strategy, but if I can manage to get an average of a post a day out, get in the neighborhood of 30-40 comments and maybe up to 50 upvotes a day, I feel like I've accomplished something.

Well, it's been a while (last week wasn't the only week that has gone to seed lately) since I've had an entire week where I could just crank and crank and get up into within range of those numbers, and it feels good, so I thought I would share that.

#### Break It Down

Mondays are typically a lower production day simply because it's chore day. Nothing extraordinary, just things like getting the garbage, laundry, and whatever else might be happening. It's just hard to get into a kind of rhythm. However, this time, rather than it being my slowest day, it's been the best of the lot far—double the comments I've been doing, plenty of curation and I published a post where I got to introduce [the first character from *MISSES*](https://steemit.com/misses/@glenalbrethsen/miss-inform-misses-character-reveal), a series of comic books or graphic novels I've been developing. That despite being pressed into cooking duty, too.

The rest of the week, my numbers have dipped somewhat after Monday, but I still feel like I accomplished something on those days. To wit:

This will be my eighth post this week—a substantial improvement from where I've been. Most of the posts did better than normal, too, thanks to a few higher upvotes and the usual hundreds of smaller ones. My core group of supports came through as they almost always do. I wrote about [nearing 2,000 earned SP](https://steemit.com/steem/@glenalbrethsen/reaching-for-2-000-earned-sp) and I celebrated my one year anniversary as a member of [@abh12345's Curation and Engagement League](https://steemit.com/community/@glenalbrethsen/first-year-anniversary-with-the-curation-and-engagement-leagues), of which I wrote about here.

I had a pretty successful second go around with [dpoll—this one was about vaccinating children](https://steemit.com/dpoll/@glenalbrethsen/should-parents-be-forced-to-vaccinate-their-children), where quite a few people gave their input, got creative again with a [five minute freewrite](https://steemit.com/freewrite/@glenalbrethsen/millennials-in-the-time-of-ghosts-and-pirates-five-minute-freewrite), and came up with an [entry for the @foodfightfriday weekly contest](https://steemit.com/fff/@glenalbrethsen/grandpa-gotta-eat-oatmeal-and-fried-egg).

I gave my opinions on other people's dpoll questions, hung out on Musing a bit, made the rounds with the fun and just great people of Food Fight Friday, and checked in on some curie and c-squared curated posts.

All in all, a good week for me. I wish every week were like this.

#### With That In Mind...

I feel like this post, instead of just being a commentary of how I feel about the week, or a showcase of what I did, should also be one of thank you.

How to explain this. I think I'm a guy who is regularly grateful and appreciative of the things that happen to me. I also think that a lot of that gratefulness and appreciation is expressed in the moment, and a lot of it manifests inside of me, rather than coming out. Rarely have I done a more community or group thank you, in real life or here.

I'm feeling like I should today. Who knows why. I'd hate to somehow jinx things from here on out, or have anyone get a swelled head, but I don't know, it just feels like I should do this.

I've contemplated listing people, like a big shout out, but I don't know who wants to be publicly recognized and who doesn't. Some folks like to work anonymously (that's my preferred method, so I try to reciprocate), and others don't mind some recognition, so there's not really a one size fits all way to do this without being somewhat general.

So, let me just say, if you interacted with me at all this week, through comments, replies, upvotes, resteems, mentions, etc., thank you. You are all part of the reason why I had a good week. If you posted something that I managed to see, comment on and/or upvote and resteem, thanks to you, too, for giving me plenty of places to land.

The social media part of this platform is very much dependent on all those types of an engagement. We don't operate in a vacuum, though it can seem like a lot of us thinks that way. For me, we can't really have a social media platform if we aren't ready and willing to be, well... social.

### So, How Was Your Week?
Oh, so many months ago, when I had less of a clue of what I was doing on STEEM than I do now, there seemed to a be at least one post, if not more, where the author would kind of set the tone, and then everyone else would kind of just chime in. Sometimes it was on topic, a lot of times it wasn't, but the commentary, at least to me, was always fun, engaging, and often enlightening.

I haven't seen a whole lot of those kinds of posts lately (doesn't mean they don't exist), so another thought I had for this post was, why not celebrate my week by hosting a place where people can talk about their week, or whatever. I guess I've thrown out plenty here that you all can comment on, but if there's something else you'd rather talk about, feel free. The idea is to just take some time, relax, chat and hangout.
