This chart of Roper Technologies (ROP) should have every long investor consider twice as to whether it the ideal time to be holding, buying or profit selling. When is the best time to buy? For me, it's the terminal ends of corrections. When is the best time to sell? For me, it's the top of waves 3 and 5. Per the Elliott Wave count in the below chart, wave 3 is long past and the current scenario seems quite ripe for wave 5. What would you do?

There is a scenario whtere wave 5 still has one more higher high to go. The below chart shows the subwaves of red 5 and so white 5 could still be unfilled. However, is it worth the risk to hang around for the last crumbs? Leave some on the table for the greedy ones! The correction is likely to be severe from both price and percentage perspectives. The red ABC show the potential corrective sequence.

It's important to understand that even in this long term EW count, the red waves themselves are actually subwaves to a higher degree of trend wave 1. The red ABC are subwaves to a higher degree of trend wave 2. So, in effect, that higher degree wave 2 (unmarked) is in progress. Can it decline more than as marked? YES! Would you be cautious or keep buying? The MACD is likely to collaborate and decline with the price; except for some bounce rallies.
