It's Sad That @dan Powered Down.

Dan Larimer, co-founder of Steemit. Thank you for everything you've done for me... And thank you for everything you **continue** to do for **Steemit.** I've read many of your articles and I've watched several of your videos... You are a true genius and your generosity and actions doesn't go unnoticed. I wish you were still at Steemit, because I truly believe that Steemit would've been a better place.

I don't mean that I think that Steemit is bad, but it's definitely many things one can question. People aren't aware of the things that happens and others seems to ignore it. Many of the people with enough stake to actually do something about certain things ignores it and pays no attention to things around them.

You on the other hand, even though you're powering down what seems to be **everything** you have, are **still** doing **something** for **Steemit**. And I appreciate your gesture and actions.

---

The fact that you're stepping in when many others does not, shows that you **still** care about your creation. Even though you're leaving Steemit behind by powering down and all those things, you cannot bare to see your creation be harmed and damaged without doing **something** to protect it. - ***And that's a wonderful thing in my book.***

![flagg.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmV415FEA8MfcM4cg7MmkkGnB1CKdSVAQs51JVws6yG5bU/flagg.png)

---

I just wish that you never powered down as much as you did, because with you at the side of the table, I think that Steemit would be steered in the right direction even when it was difficult situations to handle. Now, I'm not as tech savvy as you or others and I don't have millions of dollars. In fact, I'm just a simple, random guy, as most of the other Steemians... But truth to be told, I often feel that I care more than many others. And for that, I am sad.

I always felt that you tried your best and did what you thought was the best for others instead of thinking about yourself at first. At least that's my experience... And you prove that I was right by supporting @fulltimegeek and many other brave heroes in the current flag war. I appreciate it. **We** appreciate it.

---

https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/dmania-images/shell-3xhh51y.png
*Yup, I compare Sheldon and Dan.*

---

I truly hope that you will continue to help and support Steemit and our fellow Steemians in this war... At least for as long as you still have some Steem Power in your wallet. And I know that you have enough reputation to make others to follow your steps too.

To see the co-founder of Steemit flagging to protect his creation is not only awesome, it's also very encouraging, inspiring and makes me believe that there's actually a **good** chance to prevent this reward pool rape. Now, I hope that many **others** with enough stake to make a difference will do the same.

I feel truly bad for many of the people who've been fighting the **troll** for this long, and I wish that I could've done so much more myself... But hopefully, it will be over soon.

---

What a great article about @dan which I really didn't know much about and how caring he is for steemit community and steemians.

I'm sad that @dan is powering down and does that really mean that @dan is leaving Steemit? Why?

It looks like he’s doing more than powering down. Looks like he’s leaving. He’s already done a series of 100,000 Steem transfers to bittrex.

Very nicely said! It's good to hear he has involved himself in the flagging war going on, because how could he *not* care for his creation, regardless of whether or not he's powered down, but like you, I wish he hadn't powered down so much. I for one am glad you care so much, and I have to believe that there are many more like us, regular steemit folks who care about this platform. There will always be those who don't, but I for one have decided to surround myself with only those who do.

Thank you again!

It most certainly are thousands of people like us... But it's also a bit unfortunate that it very often seems like the minnows and newcomers are the ones that cares the most. I know that isn't entirely true though, but it often looks like it. Steemit needs more people like Dan, berniesanders, teamsteem and fulltimegeek. Just to mention a few. All of them are working towards a better place, in one way or another... And that's what it takes to make Steemit an even better place.

And we obviously need all the newcomers, minnows and dolphins to care about the platform and do what they believe is for the greater good so to speak... But in the end, it's the people with large amount of Steem Power that can basically single handedly make changes here. For better or for worse. So we definitely need them to take action in times like this.

You're right for sure , but you *sound* to me here like you're getting really discouraged about it all. Often those who *can*, don't do anything, and those of us who care so much, but can't make much of a change, are left reeling with the unfairness of it all. Stay positive my friend, and keep doing what you can; in the end, that's all anyone can expect. Sometimes the hardest thing in life is accepting the things we cannot change. I know I will continue working with 'newbies' and educate them on the wonders of selflessness here, in the hopes that working from the ground up, eventually the top may look a little different.

I agree with you @hitmeasap! I am thankful that he is showing his position. Even if he is cashing out, he still can express his views of support to @fulltimegeek and the others that are fighting!

I know people get discouraged by the seemingly lack of support from the ones that matter. And while I too find that somewhat odd that they haven't figured it out too, I think that eventually they will learn and the place will be the better for it. If STEEM goes to $0.50 and SBD goes to $1.50, then you will see some changes for the better. Its unfortunate for the blind at the top to lose all that wealth when it drops so far, but its how the free market will cleanse the system and purge the excesses.

I for one am appreciative to know what potential this place has, and most of that is due to the @fulltimegeeks #stewardsofgondor. I'd have been gone a month ago if it hadn't been for @abh12345 @goldendawne @coolguy123. Maybe the price drop will be just what the doctor ordered and then the people in the ivory towers will roll up their sleeves and help out those like you that are doing the fighting!

Yeah. There's literally **thousands** of people who're wondering why the *"officials"* doesn't show up at times like this. The fact is, that Ned could basically **prevent** all of this by himself. More or less..

However, I can see why that **could** be a bad move. As the CEO shouldn't take sides and encourage censorships, wars and whatever, but on the other hand, he **should** encourage **others** to fight for what they believe is right too. So to **at least** make a statement regarding this whole thing would be **very** helpful and definitely a **smart** move for a CEO.

To see @dan do **more** than the "officials" is also pretty weird and awkward... Even though I love Dan for his actions. And my best guess is that **hundreds** of people are feeling the same thing.

> If STEEM goes to $0.50 and SBD goes to $1.50, then you will see some changes for the better. Its unfortunate for the blind at the top to lose all that wealth when it drops so far, but its how the free market will cleanse the system and purge the excesses.

I agree with you and I can totally understand what you mean, but I think it's very unfortunate that it has to go that far. I was here when Steem was down to $0.15 or whatever and that felt **bad**. This whole place was filled with despair, anger and sadness... And now when we have **both** SBD and Steem up to more than $2 (~$2,50), we sould **all** be thankful for it and **continue** to do whatever we've done so far.

The ignorance, the neglections and the "eyes wide shut-the-fuck-up" mentality doesn't work. We can't just **mute** whatever problems we see. That doesn't make them go away.

I agree with you about the eyes wide shut-the-fuck-up... Its really amazing how disconnected they are to what is happening at the lower levels. Hopefully your project and ours and many others continue to grow together and if the price of steem drops back to really cheap levels then we will be the ones to shape steemit 2.0.

Dan was politically shut off from his own creation.

...all that did was make him stronger and more focused.

The guy is a genius!
