El registro de ser el río más ancho del mundo es solamente eso, un registro que no indica si ello es bueno, indiferente o malo.

Creo que no es bueno ni indiferente aunque tampoco me arriesgo a decir que es del todo malo, al menos da una nota de color a este lugar alejado del mundo.

El Río de la Plata es tan ancho que parece dividir más que unir. No digo que sea imposible hacer un puente para tener una comunicación más fluida con nuestro vecino país de Uruguay pero para dos naciones con recursos limitados hacer un puente o un túnel en la parte más angosta sería hacer una construcción enorme de más de 60 kilómetros.

Sin embargo hay puentes que nos unen y permiten una buena comunicación pero están en otras provincias, en sectores alejados por más de 200 kilómetros a las dos capitales que además con el centro económico y político de los dos países. Es un transporte más caro y que demanda más tiempo. También hay una buena y fluida comunicación por agua, varios barcos de distintas compañías ofrecen el servicio de transporte de vehículos y personas con una razonable frecuencia. Es decir que nos arreglamos con lo que podemos.

Pero un puente o mejor aún un túnel subfluvial daría un gran impulso a ambas economías.

El Río además se utiliza como la gran vía de acceso desde y hacia el océano Atlántico para los buques de carga y petroleros, muchos de los cuales remontan el Río Paraná para ir hasta los centros importantes de carga de cereales y otros productos agro-ganaderos.

Por supuesto es una buena fuente de diversión y esparcimiento, no para bañarse en sus costas ya que están contaminadas pero si para navegar, asolarse y también para pescar y pese a que no se aconseja el consumo de los peces extraídos cerca de la costa, mucha gente come lo que pesca.

Cada fin de semana puede observarse una gran cantidad de veleros y también embarcaciones de motor circulando por las inmediaciones. Hay regatas y excursiones que recorren el delta y también se adentran en los ríos Paraná y Uruguay, este último de aguas mucho más limpias y claras.

Es un gran río de poca profundidad ya que recibe gran cantidad de sedimentos, permanentemente debe ser dragado y hasta las embarcaciones de poco calado deben navegar con cuidado y atendiendo a las señales y cartas de navegación porque pese a su gran extensión hay sectores con traicioneros bancos de arena que no pueden observarse hasta que es tarde.

Tenemos de todo y para todos los gustos en este grande y ancho río.

The record of being the widest river in the world is just that, a record that does not indicate whether it is good, indifferent or bad.

I think it is not good or indifferent although I also do not risk saying that it is all bad, at least give a color note to this place away from the world.

The Río de la Plata is so wide that it seems to divide more than unite. I do not say that it is impossible to make a bridge to have a more fluid communication with our neighboring country of Uruguay but for two nations with limited resources to make a bridge or a tunnel in the narrowest part would be to make a huge construction of more than 60 kilometers.

However, there are bridges that unite us and allow good communication but they are in other provinces, in remote areas for more than 200 kilometers to the two capitals that also have the economic and political center of the two countries. It is a more expensive transport and that demands more time. There is also a good and fluid communication by water, several boats of different companies offer the service of transport of vehicles and people with a reasonable frequency. In other words, we manage with what we can.

But a bridge or better yet a subfluvial tunnel would give a great boost to both economies.

The River is also used as the great access road to and from the Atlantic Ocean for cargo ships and tankers, many of which go up the Paraná River to go to the important centers for loading cereals and other agro-livestock products.
Of course it is a good source of fun and recreation, not to bathe on its coasts since they are contaminated but if to navigate, sunbathe and also to fish and although the consumption of the fish extracted near the coast is not advised, much People eat what they fish.

Every weekend you can see a large number of sailboats and motor boats circulating nearby. There are regattas and excursions that cross the delta and also enter the Paraná and Uruguay rivers, the latter of much cleaner and clearer waters.

It is a large river of shallow water since it receives a large amount of sediment, it must be permanently dredged and even small vessels must navigate carefully and attending to navigation signs and charts because despite its large size there are sectors with treacherous banks of sand that cannot be observed until it is late.

We have everything in this river.
