Tim glared at his easel – it was frustratingly blank, as it had been for the past several hours. He knew there was something there, just waiting to come through, but –

He had it! He moved as if in a trance, he practically was in a trance.

He bent over and picked up a brush with his teeth, leaned over to dip it in the red paint, turned toward his formerly blank easel, and began to paint.

John stared at the pitcher, studiously ignoring the confusion of his upside down perspective. He was ready for this, he could handle anything this guy had to offer. Despite the fact that he was balancing on one hand.

He tilted the bat slightly in his right hand, shifted slightly on his left. All those one handed pull-ups he did while exercising really paid off, he could never have stood this long without it.

And there went the pitch. He had to look at it, had to consider instantly if it was good or not. It was… going to be in the strike zone, but just barely. Not his pitch. Not on the first pitch.

He let it past, ignored the umpire’s call of “strike” and the catcalls of the opposing team’s fans. He focused all of his attention on the next pitch, on the ball in the pitcher’s hand. 

And… there was the pitch. He moved immediately, swinging his bat, sending the ball flying towards the outfield. And then he was off. He dropped the bat and raced toward first base, moving as fast as his hands could power him.

I’m way too cynical. Of course, what is humor but cynicism phrased well? Hey, that seems like a good one

I can’t do it. I just can’t. I seem to have found a challenge my imagination can’t handle. This is bad, this is very bad.
