# Rise And Shine #

It was really early on a July morning. We went out to get shots of a dramatic moment for a short commercial and managed to catch some nice video of the water and foul. We were just setting up for the day. We left the studio at o-dark thirty to get to the shores of Lake Michigan at first light. What you see above is some of the raw footage that we took not long after the sun came up. 

We were hoping to get our actor looking off into the sunrise but to our surprise he did not show up. The cool thing about shooting silhouettes it that you can't necessarily tell who you are looking at from behind.  So we used one of the grips as a stand in. About 15 minutes into shooting we heard someone yelling at us from the parking area. 

The now late actor was mad that he was out of the shot and was threatening us with a union violation. The director suggested to him that he would re-cast the part and that he could loose out on the whole shoot. Somehow that helped him to get over being temporarily upstaged. 

This was shot with a Panasonic HMC40 with pretty standard settings. It is not a particularly low light camera but seemed to do okay in this back lit situation.

### Another Clip ###

As you see from above we have another clip. These shots were us just playing with the equipment while we waited for the actor.... not sure why they call them talent at times. It did not take much talent to stand there and stare off into the sun. In the end the producers decided to go with daytime shots after watching the dailies. So the only lasting part of this shoot was the two water shots.  The producers did not care what we did with this footage even though it was shot on their dime. So once it was released we put it up on a stock footage site. Where it has made us enough to buy a couple of lunches for the crew. Overall it was a good shot. If not for the actor it would have been a perfect morning on the lake. Lake Michigan is rarely this calm and looking at the footage brings back some fond memories of people that I no longer get to work with.
