I know a woman whose stage name is Day. I made a movie with her. She's a friend, but I haven't seen her in over a year, so it's hard to know what our friendship would be like if we started hanging out again...

I feel like I have that kind of friendship with a lot of people. I guess it's common. People you discover you really like while you're doing a piece of theater together, and then, it's not like you're not trying to maintain the friendship, but it's hard to maintain any friendship if you're not seeing people regularly for other reasons. Like, I think I'm friends with, well, so many people. But I'd have to make a concerted effort on a night when I'm probably not going to be my best self because I'm tired.

When you're young, you're not as worried about being your best self, and if your second best self is still pretty good, you'll make more friends than the older you who wants to be their best self and hides when he can't be.
