I think many people often forget that as an investment model, Steemit functions essentially as a proof-of-stake currency platform.

While Steem Power (SP) helps to lift the voting power of your upvotes, another beneficial property is the fraction of the reward pool that is automatically assigned to SP holders.

The following is a quick look at my own position.

**Some Quick Steemit Math**

- My personal Steem Power is about 3752 SP.
- I calculate that my SP is growing at about 0.001 per every 6 minutes based on this position.
- This means my SP is growing at 0.24 SP/day and 87.6 SP/year.
- Current STEEM price is about $1.20. 

As a result of this, my SP is growing roughly at a 2.33% annual yield.  If prices stay the same, that equates to about $105.12/year. 

All of this excludes any additional rewards gained from authoring posts/comments or from curation.  So at this point, doing absolutely nothing continues to provide a hefty reward without requiring massive amounts of computing power and etc. from a proof-of-work model.


Besides all that, Steemit is just fun.
