This all depends on how much will government with banks fight back. About that no one can be sure, or at least I’m not...

Honestly, I think credit/debit cards will be gone before that! I'm a bog fan of crypto but thinks it's quite a few years off before it becomes mainstream. My guess - we'll be paying using out phones instead of plastic cards in the next 10 years :)
We just desperately need more "tap and pay" points in SA...

Yeah the card might get embedded.. In a body part soon :)

There are still lots of poor countries & underdeveloped area. where people dont have electricity or internet & without internet/electricity bitcoin transaction is impossible. so it will take i think more time than 2030.

I believe nothing can stop the revolution about to take place in the banking and payment system. People, governments and organizations will only try to fight but no one has ever won the war against technological advancement. 

Change is the only constant thing in life and i believe fighting change is like fighting ourselves and we wouldn't succeed at doing that. It might take time but as humans we are conditioned to adapt and as you rightly mentioned, as a 19 year old kid i don't really know how cheques works but i can explain how crypto and blockchain works. It's a sign what you used to be the major is now out of existence

When you say they don't speak about the cryptocurrency but more about Paypal and other platform linked to the system this is mostly because the "mainstream medias" are longtime partner of the corrupt system and they are here to diffuse the propaganda of the bankster and other politician working hand in hand for their own interest and only interest. So i am not surprise at all of the fact that their not mentioned crypto-world. If they talk about it they will mostly say this the currency for criminal and terrorist. Love and Happiness

I think this might actually happen in the future but I don't think it will come that early. For example I just started using crypto currencies a month or two ago and as of now I'm really disappointed about all the transfer fees you are confronted on every corner.

For example when I started I charged a minimum amount of BTC to my first wallet, bam there was a little charging fee (not much but still a lose of my money). The next thing was I transferred it to another wallet and again, transfer fees. And if it wasn't still enough, the next bummer, transfer fees on the receiving wallet. 
In this first transaction I made a payment of 25€ and at the end the receiver got something about ~23,5€ 

In my opinion that's a lot of fees and there need to be done something.

I still enjoy paying with depbit card at local stores or my paypal account in online stores as I have even faster payments, no fees and a big plus is that i have a buyer protection, should something be wrong with the ordered items the seller receives no money until the problem is solved.

As I already said this whole thing is new to me and I might miss a lot of things and lack of information but for me it might take a long time until debit cards and services like paypal will be replaced by crypto currencies.

I don't think this is possible in the year 2030, 30 years from now maybe...

If it will applied all over world then this will be safe from online forgery. I will welcome it aggressively.

Taking into account the speed of change in our lives, I remember a lot of things I dreamed as a kid and now are gone for a long time...so debit / credit cards will soon become just a memory.

Well, there's debit/credit cards that use bitcoon (e.g., Payeer).
They might not disappear, but it's very likely they won't hold FIAT currencies as much as today.

@jacor i agree to the post you posted and maybe earlier than that card payment will be replaced by the cryptocurrency. Am from india and our country recently legalized bitcoin for knowing its worth in near future. And the platform like @steemig is also helping the growth of cryptocurrency marketing. **@naseerbhat**

I believe that is less than 5 years and crypto-currency will get to large mass adoption. Now I can pay my coffee with bitcoins in London, Bucharest, Cluj (the main cities I am familiar with) I guess also make sense that large mass adoption will start on the huge megalopolis and they will end up slowly in the small villages if the infrastructure will be ready. On the hill where my parents live the internet is not so common so I guess when the infrastructure will be ready I can buy even there some pringles with bitcoin ;)

cards are going away because we can pay with mobile devices now. I use my iphone whenever possible.
blockchain will be utilized, question is: Is it going to be centralazed or decentralazed?
We will know better after bitcoin civil war settles down. Will trust remain or disappear?

If you get rid of the card then what? How do you pay at the shop? RFID tracking chips? You're going to need something physical to exchange. I suppose it could go off mobile but not everyone has one.
