 <p>In my opinion, one of the best first steps towards living a deliberate life, by which I mean taking back control of your own view of reality and your own narrative about yourself, and plotting your own future, is to keep a regular journal. Otherwise, you may fall into accepting other people's agendas, and internalizing <i>their</i> worldview and narrative.</p><p>Especially by keeping your journal with pen and paper, you are expressing yourself in a medium that isn't plugged into any network, and therefore cannot be hacked, surveilled, or mitigated by those whose interests are contrary to your own, and allows you to set your own Terms of Use.</p><p>In an age where students at most schools are not being taught cursive, and thus may be handed a high school diploma without being able to sign their names (the ultimate act of self-expression), to keep a handwritten journal is cultural sedition of the highest order, and thus a very beautiful thing.</p>
