Hello Steemians, it's another episode of my interview in which I get to ask some technical Steem questions and also bring you closer to your witnesses.For this episode's interview, I have the pleasure of bringing to you @guiltyparties, a steemian who has a great passion for the Steem blockchain, a steemian who works tirelessly at the witness level by supporting various communities, as well a reputable witness. @jamesmovic   -  Who introduced you to steemit and what was your motive for joining?


@guiltyparties  -  I was originally introduced to STEEM when it first appeared on Bitcointalkforums by a friend. It quickly turned out that mining was impossible without a lot of effort and we all forgot about it, chucking it up as a scam. The next time I saw the blockchain was after Steemit launched. There was a lot of volatility in posting rewards (thousands for some, nothing for others of the same quality) and once again I moved on until eventually giving it a try.

@jamesmovic   -  How many times do you think its appropriate for a newbie to post per day?


@guiltyparties  -  Four times. That’s the golden rule. Not just for a newbie but for everyone.



@jamesmovic   -  What communities are you supporting and how?


@guiltyparties  -  More than I can list. Technical support (tools, bots), guidance, delegation, curation, digests/reading lists, you name it.


@jamesmovic  -  Can you tell us why you decided to become a witness?




,@guiltyparties  -  I think alcohol had something to do with it. A friend suggested it after seeing I moved the Guilty Parties brand to STEEM with the intention of working the STEEM blockchain into the website once it relaunched. No one could’ve predicted how much work the witness is and what it actually entails.

@jamesmovic   -  Can you tell us how your feel about it (witnessing) now?


@guiltyparties  -   was both the worst and best decisions I made.



@jamesmovic   -  What exactly does “voting for a witness” means to you,and do you think it is necessary for all steemians to vote?



@guiltyparties  -  Voting for a witness means deciding who it is you trust to properly support the STEEM blockchain and thus your investment of time and money on it. A witness, indirectly, is the custodian of your stake.

Yes, everyone should vote. That’s the only way most users can have a technical voice on the blockchain. They should place their votes after doing their due diligence and ensuring that the witnesses they support are the ones who have the skills and the intent to better STEEM.



@jamesmovic    -  What are your thoughts on the possibiltiy of there being a new “Steem 2”?



@guiltyparties  -  The threat to copy rather than build a legitimate, innovative competitor doesn’t sit well with me. Particularly when it was made by the person who abandoned the STEEM blockchain project and made that statement during a public disagreement, presumably out of malice.

@jamesmovic   -  Is there anything you would like to say on your own, without me asking the question?


@guiltyparties  -  We’ve got a lot of programs aimed at new users to a point where a newbie is easily overwhelmed by all the information thrown at them. Much of it has to do with getting votes and users are getting involved in Discord communities, typically run by other new users, without much of the requisite understanding of the STEEM blockchain. All that does is confuse everyone. For this reason it’s vital for long-term users and witnesses who are familiar with the blockchain to get involved with these communities and newbies. Not just to throw them some breadcrumb 1% votes but to answer their questions and help them scale that learning curve.



@jamesmovic   -  Any advice you would wish to give to my fellow steemians [newbies] who are feeling dejected one way or the other due to low upvotes?



@guiltyparties  -  I know it feels like crap to get no votes. My advice is to pick a niche and stick with it. Find something you’re interested in and have a degree of expertise beyond the usual common knowledge. A thematic blog on a niche subject is a good way to become established.

@jamesmovic   -  What impression do you have about this interview and what do you feel about it?



@guiltyparties  -  These are some good questions. Not sure why there’s no mention of older users, just the newbies.
