<center>আমি তোকে ভালোবাসি না,
তা কখনোই হতে পারে না;
তোর সঙ্গে যদি না হয় কথা,
এই মন আমার পায় ব্যাথা;
ফোটে না ফুল আমার হৃদয় বাগানে;
থাকে না যে নীল আমার গগনে;
নদীর ধারা সব থমকে দাঁড়ায়;
ঘরির কাটাটাও স্তব্দ হয়ে যায়।</center>

<center>আমি তোকে ভালোবাসি না,
তা কখনোই হতে পারে না;
চারিদিক ধূসর হয়ে যায় তুই বীনা
রাতের আকাশে ওঠে না চন্দ্র-তারা;
সূর্যডুবিতে পাখিরা ফিরে না নীড়ে;
হতাশা জমে আমার এই মনের কুঠিরে;
নিজেকে লাগে বড় একা ও শুন্য,
তুই  ছাড়া আমি যে অসম্পুর্ন ।</center>
