# Winter Comes Early...
**Snow Covered Leaves on #TreeTuesday**

The trees were not prepared for the early winter. They did not finish shedding their autumn foliage. The first day of winter (Winter Solstice) in the Northern hemisphere is technically this Thursday, December 21st. Mother Nature came a bit early this year and decided to drop a blanket of fresh snow last week.

These are some pictures I took of the [Smiling Beech Tree](https://steemit.com/treetuesday/@jeffjagoe/the-smiling-beech-tree-treetuesday) in my backyard. I liked the way the snow was gently hanging onto the leaves. Usually by the time the snow comes, the trees are bare, so this was an odd sight to see.
