One of the expectations of most Christians after conversion is to be free from pain, afflictions, testings and trials. However the Scriptures do not promise exemption from trials for the believer but deliverance from every trial. In Luke 1; 5-7 we see Zachariah who was not only a Levite but a Priest.

In addition he was married to a woman from the priestly tribe of Levi. Both he and his wife were righteous and blameless before God yet they were afflicted with barreness. We do not know for how many years Elizabeth had been barren but we know that it must have been many years because "they both were now we'll stricken in years".

I have known some very precious believers who have suffered from the scourge of barrenness. That dear couple were blessed with twins after 18 years of marriage. Whatever testing or trial youay be going through I want to encourage you that the Lord knows about your pains and He will deliver you in the fullness of time.

In addition to faith believers need patience to be able to inherit God's promises. Even Abraham had to patiently endure before he could inherit God's promises (Heb. 6;12)
