Introduction post, also known as "Fine, I'm sure this version is ok. Or am I?" post.

Greetings Steemians!

My name is John Merlyn. I’m somewhere between 33 and 35 years old. I come from Poland, but live in Thailand where I teach English to Thai people and occasionally have lengthy conversations with my Canadian friend, thanks to whom I’ve got interested in steemit. Apart from work and some resemblance of a social life, there is family of course. My 9-year-old daughter is I suppose what life is all about, and my 8-months-old representative of a beagle breed (Buster) is what all the chaos is about.

I expect it would be quite difficult to list all the things that interest me, as there are so many of them. So I’ll choose just a few. I like chess, although I’m an average player (average enough that a win against someone with a rating of 1200 gives me a lot of joy). If I can spare a moment, or try to relax I will sit down at my Yamaha P35 and try to remember and play whatever it was I learned 20 years ago. Otherwise I will connect my iPad and try to have some fun with the Garageband app. There are books of course. First 3 that came to mind: Count of Monte Cristo, Crime and Punishment and the Godfather. These are probably three things I consider the most productive of all my free time activities. If I can find 2 hours a day for all these things combined I am a very happy man.

There are other things I enjoy doing of course. I certainly enjoy procrastinating, which mainly involves listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and youtube of course, that bottomless pit of videos you watch and don’t remember the following day. Otherwise I work on my work, meaning on the worksheets for my students, coming up with new ideas for the classroom games etc.

Generally speaking, I guess I’m a busy mind in a busy world. Although nights are still better than days, and silence is in high demand.

In here I want to share with you some of my thoughts on many topics that interest me. I suppose that these would be mainly the topics involving questions beginning with “why?”, as these are the best kind. I want to show you some pictures from my travels and maybe introduce Thailand in some way. For those of you who are teachers I may have some interesting materials to use in your classroom.

I’m happy to join this community and without jinxing it I expect we will have some good times together. Or we’ll die trying. Well, maybe that’s a bit much. Just fun then!
