An ornament that has deep roots in our household... just got deeper than expected. ## The Santa Gourd  Beloved by my wife and abhorred by me (exaggerated feelings for story's sake) the Santa gourd has lore in our household. I annually question this ornaments visibility and viability on our tree. Sometimes I even move it to the back or tucked away from view, only to wake up and see it out front somewhere within eye level dressed in full prominence for all to see. Well we got a second tree this year (Christmas decorations have exploded into our home since our children have been here.) Mainly a tree to hold all of the crappy ornaments that our kids will make at school. Regardless today I suggested that the Santa Gourd bye moved to that tree and was summarily dismissed. Then I asked why she liked it so much and inquired about the origin of getting the ornament. Waiting for a long story of how it was passed down through generations to her she simply stated "It was your mothers, your aunt has the same one on her tree." I could immediately hear my mother's voice proclaiming that she too loved The Santa Gourd aaaaaand saying how cute she thought it was. Santa Gourd 2 Me 0
