The Captain whirled around on his heels and yelled for Boy Tipper down on the main deck…
“Yo! Tipper loon! Rin an' git th' landin' perch an' prepaur tae brin' 'att spyug in!"
“Aye Sairrr!” Tipper replied as he was off down the galley stairs in a hurry.
“Ah see’s heem noo, aboot a half mile aff th' starboard baw!" Commander Galligan remarked as he held a steady scope.
“Has tae be Acting Lieutenant Ickied!” The Captain said as he gazed far off to the north west.
The tiny speck grew larger by the minute and by the time Tipper returned with the landing perch, the bird was only a hundred yards out.
“Hauld 'att perch up high sae he can see it loon!" The Captain said as he watched the bird.
After circling the bridge twice, the messenger pidgeon finally landed softly on the end of the perch and Tipper took him under his arm while he quickly unraveled the message…
