Located about thirty kilometers from Madrid –one more kilometer, less kilometer- Chinchón is not only known worldwide for the magnificent representations of the Passion, which every Holy Week, Covid-19 through, gathers an authentic crowd of visitors and curious, or for the quality of its extraordinary anisees or, without going any further, for the exquisite monjeriles sweets, among which stand out, picaresque included, those that due to their shape are called 'nun teticas (breast)'.

The true attraction of Chinchón, its star, its pride and its gold medal for traditional architecture, is nothing other than its monumental Main Square.

Located next to the imposing Gothic-Renaissance church, dedicated to the figure of the Baptist, the Plaza Mayor in Chinchona is a wake-up call to traditional picturesqueness that raises passions.

Of ancestral homes swinging on the foundations of arcades that provide shade and relief in the harsh Castilian-La Mancha canicles, their balconies are the essence of that Spain of corrala, gathering and filandón, which would deserve, by itself, to appear in the highest heights of popular poetic culture.
