An interesting video. My personal feeling is that more than users choosing a token, the token will choose you through your activity.

I think where I disagree is essentially a matter of degree. I really like the idea of being able to pay people in shares of companies or shares of a project. And I think what you're talking about will definitely happen.

And ya, if you were buying something from me, I'd likely be willing to accept Steem for it. But at the same time, I only want so much Steem. So there would reach a point where I wouldn't want it anymore (or at least, where I'd just be converting out of it and only accepting it as a convenience to you).

Or if I liked some company or project, I'd likely accept payment in shares of those things, ya.

So hybrid instruments can be appealing and I imagine you're right that they'll be used. But at the same time, if you book a sale halfway across the world, you don't necessarily then want to figure out what they want to pay in and what you want to accept.

So while I think what you're talking about *will happen*, I don't think it will be the default or the common way. 

The various projects and companies may have more potential upside than Bitcoin, but they'll have downside too. They can always be mis-managed, and can go kaput when newer things disrupt them.

So wanting to accept payment in those things involves wanting to hold those assets.

So to borrow your dollar vs. Facebook shares example, one reason I may prefer to accept dollars is simply that I'm not looking to speculate on Facebook's success.

And of course only so many people could accept payment in Facebook before the buying pressure would make things wonky in terms of its valuation.

So it's like: Either it's spread out to infinitely many different instruments, and in that case it's the chore of figuring out which one we want to do business in today. Or there's a smaller list of assets that are used as payments, and then they balloon in value beyond the real value of the assets (which means it may as well be Bitcoin, it doesn't really matter anymore that it's backed by the asset, most of its value is based on its use as payment).

And I'd figure that it should be easy to quickly convert your Bitcoin to a share of X project, decentrally stored and without much fee. So rather than actually do payment in the various projects, we can do payment in one thing that's regarded as the currency, and then you convert from there to the projects you want to be a part of.

So I don't really have any specific disagreement. But overall my perspective is, I guess, that what you're talking about is smaller more than it's the norm.
