 An investigation by the University College of London (UCL), published in the journal 'Nature Neuroscience', revealed that people who have been unfaithful in the past are much more likely to be new, in front of those who do not usually lie.

Neil Garrett, a psychologist and co-author of the study called "The brain adapts to dishonesty," says there is a "powerful factor" that prevents us from "cheating on an emotional level", but by lying it weakens over time.

Garrett says that everything is due to the amygdala or amygdala body, a set of neurons that process and store emotional reactions. It provides a negative response-shame or remorse-when the individual lies. However, "the process of adaptation [to dishonesty] reduces this reaction, which allows us to cheat more," adds Garrett in an interview for the Elite Daily portal.

The expert emphasizes that the so-called 'white lies' can become more meaningful lies because we can gradually deal better with them.

On the other hand, Garrett himself believes that the study would have to be modified to evaluate in more detail the impact on the amygdala. According to him, in the case of infidelity, for example, adaptation takes place in a shorter period of time, but in behaviors such as violence, it turns out to be slower.
