I am in a town called Dehradun these days. It is the place where I was born and where I spent the first 17 years of my life. Every time I come here to see my parents, I also like to explore what new places have opened up and how my home town is changing. 

I went to meet a friend yesterday for coffee and he suggested that we meet at  place called Cafe de Piccolo.

The place is located near Mussourie diversion on Rajpur Road. The first great thing about it is its location. The road on which this is located comes after the roundabout for Mussourrie, so most of the traffic heads in that direction. The area is full of trees and gives one a view of lush green hills. Less traffic makes outdoor seating a possibility. There are other places with open seating but none of them have seating facing the road. It is a very common thing in Europe and this cafe ensures that let's people enjoy that. I don't know if it's just me but I love the feeling of seeing slow moving traffic and passengers walking by, gives a sense that the city is alive. 

The cafe has ample seating.We went around 1 PM and there were seats available both inside and outside. The place was really clean, tables outside as well.

I ordered a Cafe Americano and my friend ordered an Ice blended cafe mocha.

My friend wanted less sugar but that wasn't possible because they use some powder in the coffee. 

The eating options were decent but we were full from breakfast, so didn't try out any.

Coffees arrived in 10 minutes, may be less.

I didn't taste the cold coffee, as I don't like sweet coffees. However going by my Americano, I think his coffee would have been good. The beans used weren't cheap. The coffee had notes of orange, and since they weren't roasting beans themselves, I'm guessing they were using Blue Tokai beans. 

Smoking is permitted outdoors, so if you want to get a Parisian feel, this is the closest you'll get to in Dehradun. 

The bill came to about 500 INR, which is similar to any coffee chain in India. I think premium beans, and location make this place exceptional. 

I'm giving this place a full 5 stars, on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best. It can't get better than this.
