Hi Steemit!  Today I visited several flower departments assortment and quality of succulents which are very different from each other.

After looking at all this diversity and the reaction of other customers, I want to give you some advice. Please do not take my advice as strict rules, because I'm not a professional.  But combining them with other information and your own intuition, you will definitely choose the best plants! :)

So, what should I look for when choosing succulents?

Inspect the plant from all sides for suspicious stains and damage.  Wet spots do not say anything good, most likely the plant is already affected.  Dry spots and damage are not dangerous, most likely it is injuries received during transportation.

Inspect the leaves.  Dry lower leaves are natural, but if there are a lot of them and the plant is watered a lot, they could begin to deteriorate.  The presence of yellow transparent leaves indicates excessive moisture.  Perhaps the plant has already begun to rot.  I do not recommend acquiring such a plant.

I do not advise you to choose colored plants, plants with sparkles and artificial snow.  The paint does not allow the plant to breathe and receive light.  If the plant does not get rid of the paint, it will most likely die.  But washing the paint can cause damage to the succulent.

Leaves dropped down also indicate a lack of light and excessive watering.  Excessive watering indicates a possible rot or disease.

Elongated plants just look unaesthetically.  It will take time to form a new tight outlet and re-root. :)

You can see some common pests or traces of their vital activity with the naked eye.

In any case, build on your goals and skills.  If you are interested in the variety, you can take any plants, disassemble them into leaves, re-root.  If you just collect your collection and the appearance of the plant is important to you here and now, then take the best you can find. :)

If you are new to caring for succulents, do not immediately take expensive rare specimens.  Practice simple tenacious views, this is useful for you and your wallet!;)
