Interestingly, the common term "red caviar" includes caviar of several species of salmonids. In the shops we can meet caviar from trout, chum, pink salmon, sockeye salmon, coho salmon, chinook salmon. On useful properties and internal composition, all these eggs are almost identical, but differ in size, appearance and taste.

Let's start with the smallest caviar. Its lawful mistress is a trout. The diameter of eggs is 2-3 mm. The eggs of the trout are orange or yellow.

 Small eggs belong also to fish coho salmon. Its caviar has a bitter taste and has a burgundy color.

Caviar sockeye is about 4 mm in diameter in size, and its taste reminds a pink salmon roe.

Pink salmon roe is the most common red caviar among consumers. Its size is about 5 mm in diameter. Color of the eggs is light orange, the shell is loose.

To decorate festive dishes it is good to use the so-called "royal caviar" -its bright amber eggs is about 5-6 mm in diameter. This fish is kindly provided by fish chum. Interestingly, not everyone likes her taste. But all people have different tastes.

The owner of the largest caviar is the fish of the chinook salmon. Its eggs are about 7 mm in diameter, bright red and taste bitter.

Я люблю икру, хоть и ем ее не так часто. Когда я начала читать пост, я вспомнила, как мой врач советовал есть красную икру во время беременности, о чем ты и написала) В моем городе красная икра стоит примерно 300-400 рублей за банку и чаще это икра нерки. Многие думают, что икра не может стоить таких денег, поэтому это подделка. К сожалению, я не разбираюсь в этом, но на вкус я ощущаю обычную красную икру)
