The Road to Steem Fest | Business or Pleasure?

I can't remember the last time I did a business trip, it may have been to Belgium which I wrote about [here](https://steemit.com/travel/@livinguktaiwan/my-old-working-life). And damn, that was before the @SteemitWorldMap started so I don't have any pins of Belgium on the map. Now I have to find something to write about Belgium so I can add a pin there.

Talking of the SteemitWorldMap, this was my first "job" on Steemit. I jumped on board when it started and have been with the Map ever since. Since then, I've had other "jobs" on Steemit including moding on the @TravelFeed discord channel, authoring for @Promo-Mentors and my most recent role, joining @OCD as a curator. I call these "jobs" in a very loose sense as I do get rewarded for most of my effort, but it's not a job as you and I normally know.

Apart from Promo-Mentors who haven't been active for a long time, all the other teams, or at least some team members will be at SteemFest. I'm looking forward to meet them all in person at last. I guess you can call that a business meeting, though there is no business to be done. Or will there....? In reality, these folks have become my virtual friends, I've seen most of their photos, communicate a lot online, and know quite a bit about some of them and their life. The only person I haven't seen before is @acidyo from OCD. I wonder if he will go to SF4? Or perhaps he and @anomadsoul are actually the same person .... or maybe Acid is really a she pretending to be a he 🤔 Alll will be revealed at SF4 ... or not. Anyway, my point is, the line between busines and pleasure is blurred on Steemit. Going to SF4 is for pleasure as much as for business.

Actually, conditions permitting, I would have loved to use SF4 as an opportunity to launch a little side business. But it's a bit too early for that, so my "side business" will have to stay as my "side pleasure" for the time being. And that brings me to my SF4 Surprise. I've provided an update on that in all my #roadtosteemfest post. I'm glad to report, things are back on track now. I've also tweaked my plan a bit to make it more achieveable, so things are look good.

Very exciting and happy for you to know you will have the opportunity to attend SF4 @livinguktaiwan!  Hopefully STEEM will have undergone a __*major*__ uptick in value, between now and then, and the long-term prospects for our blockchain are deemed to be bright for all in attendance.

Congratulations on this new role.  I have received several upvotes from them in the past, but never made it to their "whitelist," so I don't understand how that works.  But, from what I know of you, it is in good hands!

Thanks @rolerob.    If you  were upvoted by them  you should automatically go on the whitelist.  Pre HF22 you would be able to use OCDB service, now they've changed to manual curating those on the whitelist so they may see them sometime!

HK is still in the news everyday, things are no better but I haven't posted much about it as I didn't want to bore people.  That was until a few days ago I got very annoyed with a particular incident

... but that did not happen.  While I believe you and I may have "engaged" with each other prior, during my "Road to Recovery" trip posts, I think we became better acquainted.  And in this [summary post](https://steemit.com/travelfeed/@roleerob/r2r-travelogue-recap-of-roleerob-s-excellent-adventure-in-winter) of that trip, I listed all of the stand-out support I received, including votes from OCD.  A number of them ...

Anyway, thanks for the post link.  I missed that one.  As I imagine you know far better than me, it would seem to me to be very important the world understand what is happening in Hong Kong.  Since, whichever way it goes, there will likely be a direct impact on China's dealings with Taiwan, which they also consider theirs ...

P.S.  Perhaps someday I will be able to go to a SteemFest.  But, not this upcoming one ...

Well, I lost all my data and can't recover my actifit account anymore as my hard drive is broken and to get it would cost me around 1000 USD. Long story...
