Community Series #13: Our Favorite Pets

Isn’t he just precious? I have loved Siberian Huskies since I was a little guy. 

My favorite movie is still Iron Will. The loyal yet feisty sled dogs in that picture have cemented my desire to have a husky. 

Yes, the disclaimer here is that we don’t have a husky ***yet.*** The complex we live in is not the friendliest for animals so alas we wait till @mustardseed finishes up this stage of schooling. 

### <center>Family Pets</center> ###

My family is a bit weird in the pets we keep around the homestead. *None of us have ever owned a dog or cat.*

Our pets growing up were snakes, lizards, domesticated rats, ducks, and rabbits. We even had chickens until our neighbors grew tired of the noise. 

It is always amusing to see the resemblance dog and cat owners have to their pets. Not sure what that says about my family growing up with our menagerie of animals.

you should read Jack London's Call of the Wild - great for the bond between a man and a dog - and there's lots of mushing over the Arctic snow :) 

I have owned mostly herding dogs - Border Collies and Australian Shepherds- super intelligent,  but they have high prey drives - @mustardseed wouldn't like that.

Personally, the best dog I've ever owned (well, actually she owns me) is Abbey my Golden Retriever Poodle mix. She's super-intelligent, but gentle and loves children (hint, hint)

I'm pet free right now, but Ive had wonderful cats, a golden retriever for 16 years, a delightful ferret, and as a kid, turtles, birds, fish, and ducks, and a terrier that I got at the age of 1 year that lived until I was 19 years old. ...she was my best friend. Now I pet sit for my friends animals, love them, and then get to send them back home. Kind of like grandkids!

My dear husband he loves so much the Alaskan malamute but still no room for such a dog. Lots of running and exercises ;)) The truth is that I fall in love either ;)))
