"Bruises" is a poem that talks about the transition from heartbreak to stone. When you get your heart broken into thousands of pieces, it is hard to put them back together. Honestly, I doubt that they can ever be placed the same way as before. The healing process can be difficult and lengthy. The fear of not being hurt makes you build wall after wall around you. 

When your perspective shifts from "us" to "I", it is easy to slip into the victim's role and blame the other. Lingering for too long into this phase can turn you bitter, darker, cynical or even depressed. At that point it is hard to believe in yourself and focus on how to mend your heart.  

It is even harder to accept that by letting go all the resentment, you will move into a better place. Working yourself through the grief, getting accustomed with the pain  will bring you the relief and strength you need. That's when you understand that you need to reset or eliminate your expectations and prioritize your happiness.

No one else can pull you from under the big black cloud! It has to be you!
