<p>In this excellent parody of the 1960s bossa nova song <em>“The Girl from Ipanema,”</em>&nbsp; Bob Rivers mocks those who are addicted to the unhealthy, filthy, and disgusting habit of smoking tobacco.* &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>As stated in an earlier post, the original <em>“Girl from Ipanema,”</em>&nbsp; was <em>“a golden teenage girl”</em>&nbsp; who personified <em>“a gift of life.”</em>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Unlike that golden girl from Ipanema, this <em>“Girl with Emphysema”</em>&nbsp; is a pale and sickly girl with yellow teeth, enveloped in a stinking cloud of smoke. Not very alluring.</p>

<h1>Bob Rivers</h1>
<p>Bob Rivers is a retired US radio personality who is well known for his creation and recording of parody and novelty songs.&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Whole Lotta Zeppelin</h3>
<p>Rivers started working in radio while still in high school, and got his first paying gig when he was 16. Apparently he was fired from that post for playing too many Led Zeppelin songs. He continued to work, on the east coast, and soon started writing parody songs. &nbsp;&nbsp;  <p>

LOL. I know several girls like that and they deserve to have this song sent to them! I didn't know it, but I think it's great and a good way to point out smoke addicts. The girl's voice is good, but the cough is a creative and hilarious resource. Good. Ah, good thing you quit smoking. Greetings!

Glad you like it. Just by researching / writing for this series, I've already found so much great music that I never knew existed. Such as this Bob Rivers and his brilliant and scathing parodies.
