The competitive advantage of Steemit is that it is an interface to the Steem blockchain. The blockchain is the business end of it while the Steemit website is but an interface to it. Why is that an advantage? Because the Steem blockchain offers 1) censorship resistance and 2) a shorter Time-to-Value for bloggers that the user community itself deems worthy because it rewards its users with STEEM, which is the native cryptocurrency of the Steem blockchain.

At present, Steem still has a small number of users, while the STEEM reward pool follows its slowly decreasing rate of inflation. What that means is that anyone who joins now and uses Steemit or other content delivery websites gains an early adopter advantage. Earning the tokens will get harder in the future.
