A little later in the morning, I saw something either in a commercial or on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade that reminded me that there are a lot of people almost alone in the world. They are meeting this morning. We are going to be monitoring this at home this month and if the problem persists, he will have some GI testing done next month. It is a fact that many who would be classed as high risk will never develop a Cancer during their lifetime, and this is what is so scary about this ferocious disease. The research is being conducted on "factors contributing to the burden of childhood cancer treatment on patients and their families". Congratulations Hogan family. Your child is cancer free. That Gabriel and our family was protected from chicken pox, shingles and hepatitis. It turns out that he had an organ of sorts connected to his small intestine that a very small percentage of people have as adults called Meckel's Diverticulum.

We were told stories about people waiting several days and up to weeks just to get their sick kid a room. I HATE that we have to return to hospital living on Monday and live there for the next 30 days. He is an absolute hoot these days and I think is enjoying having an even larger audience up here with the nurses and doctors. Once we returned from the hospital we found my son engaged in his new obsession. Our two meals provided by the hospital were divided up among the five of us. On a happier note, the little girl that was in the room next door with the same Leukemia as Jemma went home today. Usually though, patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia have around 80%-90% Leukemia cells in their bone marrow. Promyelocytic leukemia is due to a translocation between chromosomes 15 and 17 which is symbolized t(15;17).

John and I went to the Temple last night and we both felt good about this next round of chemotherapy. He also told me that I will be admitted that night (Tuesday the 13th) around 5 or 6 pm. This was the second time this procedure was done and there will be several more (approximately 12). The doctors use this method to inject chemo into her spinal fluid. Watty was so close to not making it and our life felt like a living nightmare: He was there. Daddy and I played like rock stars! No one has a support system like I do. The Child Life person gave her one of those stickers with a snap on it that they put on you to hook heart monitors to. One of the things that amazed me over and over again as we fought this battle was the outpouring of support that we received.

Over the weekend, I called all my employees and laid them off. The German kids in our area went back to school today. I couldn't miss the combination of nature and family, however, so I went. I don't know who else could have tolerated this last seven months so well, all the while telling ME that I'm doing well and working hard. The last time she came to visit was when I had just received the call scheduling Little Warrior's surgery. Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday, so 11 North (the hematology oncology floor) had a little pre-game party. A lesson that I have remembered all my life. Please pray that we would have faith to lean into those realities. Why have we had to pay the ultimate price? The three adults in the house have been cleaning. I have great, well-behaved kids, but every once in a while they need a time-out. Now I sit and wait to be someone's match and hopefully save their life.

You limit your life and those around you when fear is your leader. They learn to debate out of self-defense. Yes, it is A LOT cheaper to do fluids at home for the insurance company but apparently that doesn't matter. NOT a good sign when we see those and something that we never want to see ever again. Shammah (Paul) has a doctor appointment today. This time instead of riding in an ambulance to an appointment we were able to walk. I woke up very early for some reason, and by routine this time of the year, I checked my email on my phone. We are back in a different waiting area. There are nursing activities such as preparing mouthwash, giving medications and changing bandages which are new items on my daily list. Since I was worried the pain near my elbow was from a blood clot, I've been keeping all the muscles around there moving.
