ULOG #12 : The Sportive Side of Me - I Went Biking!

Hello Steemit Friends!

People who knew me probably won´t recognize me with the bike helmet and shades on . I went out biking the other day as a start of my weight-trimming activities. The first half of this year have been packed with stress, household chores to take care of due to a winter-long absence. Plus the scheduled doctors´s yearly appointments also needed attention. I have been suffering from a backache which was probably due to the daily long sitting sessions in front of the computer at work for so many years. Rheumatism is a painful experience if you are suffering from that. I swear that it is difficult for me at the moment to write anything by hand because both my hands are stiffed. My pain is exactly in the same finger  of both hands  and is reflected too in the neighboring fingers.

There is rheumatism history in our family although it´s hard to believe that I inherited the genes of both my parents. I guess, this is part of growing old. I am overweight by 10 kilos at the moment so I need to lose , really lose these kilos otherwise, I´d be in trouble with my health.  There is a german saying… *du bist was du ißt*.. which literally means *you are for what you eat*. My weight gain is definitely from my food intake. So I have planned to make a strict diet and planned to do something about it.

At any rate, I made a resolution for the coming days to do biking activities outside the house . Biking is one form of sports that I always love to do. I have been motivated to go out to see the wonders of nature. We have a stationary bike though, but only use it when the weather is unfavorable.

The other day, I started my plan... although it was very hot at 1:30 PM , which was the peak of the day heat, I bravely threaded the path along the Marchfeld Kanal which is a creek that starts from the Danube River running all the way down to Lower Austria. The path is about 10 kilometers and as much as I would want to make this long ride ,  decided to cut half the way as the heat was unbearable and also because I forgot to bring water. The ride was very exhausting but I had a fulfilling reward to  feel and see nature. The birds were chirping and the sound of the  water flowing in the creek was lovely as music for my ears.

Congratulations to your decision to live a healthier life! I am doing the same at the moment and it feels great :-)
I also sit a lot in front of the computer (working, working, working), so much that I get strong headaches sometimes from the tension in my neck. 
As soon as I start doing sports, and especially stretching, the pain gets less and less.

Yeah, cool noh! But it was too hot with the helmet.. the next day I forgot to put it on..luckily.nobody checked I didn't have one..otherwise I would have to pay a fine of 30 euros.. it is a must for one's safety...

I learned biking at an early age of 6. My older brother taught me ..we were stealing my fathers bike and it was so big and high for my age.One time my mana caught us practicing...she said I was not supposed to ride the bike because I am a girl... basta! Hahaha.
