Embrace your inner Jacques Cousteau while playing this underwater survival game. This is a game every marine biologist was waiting for their whole lives, explore the depths of an alien planet and use science to survive and save yourself. Craft items and gear, from small tools to large underwater habitats and submarines. Engage with all sorts of underwater species, from small fish to huge leviathans capable of swallowing you in one bite. The graphics is insanely good in this game and immersion is hands down one of best ones in recent years.

You start as a survivor from space ship crash on an alien planet, and your only goal is to survive and try to find other survivors with only your underwater mask. Soon you will use your survival pod crafter for you to cook food, distill water from the marine life and use all sorts of metals and minerals to craft tools and better equipment for increasingly greater depths and other dangers. You will start finding rarer materials and craft more advanced science stations and vessels. Even with all that, there is a constant fear of something that will eat you no matter how big your ship is. Things you can do in this game are limitless, you will constantly be surprised by the new discoveries and the implications of those discoveries.

The most fascinating aspect of this game is the atmosphere, you will always gasp for air, or you will drown, you will hear all sorts of animal noises that will put fear of the unknown in your bones. The dread and fear of the unknown is so real in this game, it is beyond fascinating how devs managed to pull this off, you are all alone stranded on an alien planet filled with sea monsters. Even though this is a survival game where you scavenge for materials, this is also a horror game like no other. Just try diving during the night with strange sounds all around you and then suddenly from the dark a Reaper leviathan just grabs you and eats you. It is unnerving to play this. It's been a long time since I experienced this kind of fear in one game, if you don't trust me just try it :)  Subnautica is one helluva game. Score: 93/100
