### Back on the blockchain!
<p><div class="text-justify">A few years ago, when I first became familiar with decentralized platforms built on blockchains, one thing I learned was how curation works on such blogs as <i>Steemit</i>, the first and only platform if its kind at the time, and now <i>Hive</i> and quite a few others. Often, random bloggers on these platforms will gather at least several posts full of content they find meaningful to them and their followers and compile them into one curation post to share. Sometimes these posts are topic or genre specific, sometimes they can span a diverse range of interest from music to off-grid living to growing food or cannabis to topics such as parenting, cooking or drawing among just about anything you can think of that people will blog about and others will want to read.</div></p>
<p><div class="text-justify">One advantage to doing this on decentralized block chain platforms is that the bloggers and readers not only get to increase the traffic to a particular blog, both parties will generate some form of crypto currency from the respective block chain the blog lives on, which can payout to the blogger and reader in dollars and cents. In addition, the blog and the content on the blog gets more exposure and draws a wider audience.</div></p>
<p><div class="text-justify">After a short time getting antiquated with how decentralized platforms work and getting into the groove of a regular blogging and podcasting schedule, I began to experiment with my own style of curation posts. I tried quite a few of my own as well as worked for a couple of other blogs curating for them. I really enjoyed it and both mine and the posts I curated actually made a few bucks!</div></p>
<p><div class="text-justify">Now, after having spent some time away from the decentralized web and having gone back to posting on major social media platforms, I am making a return to blogging and curating. And while I have a very diverse range of interests and personal and professional endeavors, I think I will do my best curating by sticking to certain topics I am most passionate about. This post you are reading now will be the first of a series of curating original music on and for blockchains.</div></p>
<p><div class="text-justify">I will begin by using a few of the decentralized music platforms I'm already familiar with. I will also be encouraging all of the very talented artists I know to stat uploading their original tunes to some of the platforms I support so that I may include their music in these posts and garner a new fan base for them from the decentralized web all over the world. The first such platform will be Emanate, a platform for musicians, producers, remixers, vocalists and record labels built on the EOS blockchain where each artist is paid for every 6 seconds any of their tunes are streamed. I like this, because the fans need not send any sort of payment or buy and download any of the music in order for the artist to make money; all one has to do is listen to the music and enjoy.</div></p>
<p><div class="text-justify">I'm going to stick to genres that I know well and am passionate about and I will be playing around with the formatting of these posts each time until I have something that works well. This week I have quite a few pieces of music to curate for the first post, although from now on I will keep it to 5 tunes each week.</div></p>

# House / Techno
1. YYVNG <a href="https://emanate.live/yyvng/wynehouse">Wynehouse</a> - This tune is an upbeat electro house style obviously produced with the dancefloor in mind. The bass is dirty and the beat is jumpin'. It's not a grown up dance tune, it's something for the peak time rave crowd. As a DJ I personally don't play many tracks like it, but this is one I would keep around for the EDM festival crowds.
2. Artless Music <a href="https://emanate.live/artless-music/goin-dark-landr-mastered">Goin Dark (LANDR mastered)</a> - Here is a proper Techno track for the afterhours crowd. I can see opening a 7am set with this tune. While it is a lightweight production, the breakbeat chop sprinkled throughout gives the tune versatility for a DJ to take his set any direction, be it tech, minimal or deep and hard.
3. ARΔZV <a href="https://emanate.live/areznunyetzu/koisuru-original-track">Koisuru</a> - This is a melodic piece of dance music with an old school underground vibe for sure. The drum track certainly feels like Techno, while the percussion and piano work throughout gives it more of a housey vibe. This is another tune I would add to my afterhours or Sunday morning set-list.
4. Fly <a href="https://emanate.live/fly/flinch">Flinch</a> - Now this tune will have to be filed under House. Not just any House, minimal underground Burner style House. I can totally hear this being spun by any number of DJs in the Burning Man scene. The drums remind me of many a late nights in Brooklyn clubs. The vocal sample fits the track well. I'll certainly be reaching out to the artist to see if i can get a cop for my crates.
5. Sysdemes <a href="https://emanate.live/sysdemes/dislocation">Dislocation</a> - I'll probably get some shit from the hardcore Ravers for including a tune from Deadmau5's label on this list. I won't apologize for recognizing talent and appreciating good music. If I were to have mixed this into a deep House set for the dancefloor without warning, the only thing that would ensue is some serious dancing from the crowd. I'm unfamiliar with this artist, but I know a good EDM track when I hear it.

# Bass music (DnB / Dubstep / Trap / Riddim)
1. Fly <a href="https://emanate.live/fly/flinch">Flinch</a> - Here is a Riddim style track that is sure to please the ears. It is a bit more upbeat than most Riddim tunes and leans more towards the Hip Hop end of the electronic spectrum. The drums track has a lot more going on that the average tune in this genre and the changes and drops are something fresh and interesting, unlike so many others which seem to regurgitate the same production techniques. This is certainly an artist to look out for.
2. Nick Havey <a href="https://emanate.live/nickyhavey/travelling-man">Traveling Man</a> - Mr Havey is no stranger to blockchains or Drum n Bass. He may be one of the hardest working producers I know. He is a traveler and regular blogger as well. His years of experience between making music and blogging certainly shine through in the work he produces. His music is deep and melodic and always sounds professionally mastered. I've not heard a disappointing tune from him yet and always look forward to seeing what's new on his social media.
# Hip Hop / Rap
1. Coach Jeets <a href="https://emanate.live/daorecords/the-right-to-know">The Right To Know</a> - I enjoyed this tune right from the start. A proper boom bap style beat with smooth instrumentation. The vocals start out with some funky soulful crooning. The rap flow is tight and lyrics make me think of a cross between Zero 7, Neptunes and Tricky. I'll be looking forward to hearing more from this artist.
2. DookieBrownFlow <a href="https://emanate.live/dookiebrownflow/push">Push</a> - Dookie of Second Womb, a New Jersey native out of Burlington County, is an excellent representative of Hip Hop culture. His flow is tight, his lyrics are fresh and interesting. His productions are not your typical repetitive beats and rhymes, they tell stories and the music feels like you should hear a cameo from MF Doom or Jay Electronica. I feel this is a great tune to get yourself familiarized and start spreading the Dookie.
3. DJ Lethal Skillz <a href="https://emanate.live/djlethalskillz/high">High</a> - Here is a producer and extraordinary DJ/Turntablist who needs no introduction, particularly if you are familiar with blockchain music. Originally hailing from Lebanon, his years of hard work as a DJ and producer have taken him to several countries. He has collaborated with many Hip Hop artists from around the globe. He is also a pioneer in the blockchain industry having helped launch several projects including Emanate. This tune is a perfect example of what kind of sounds you can expect from Lethal Skillz.
