Kapolres Aceh Timur, AKBP Rudi Purwiyanto, melalui Kasat Reskrim AKP Budi Nasuha Waruwu mengatakan, kejadian bermula saat korban mendatangi pelaku yang sedang berada di rumah istri kedua pelaku di Gampong Teupin Drum, Kecamatan Darul Aman.
"Kedatangan korban kekerasan untuk mengambil KTP, buku nikah, STNK dan sepeda motor. Setibanya di rumah istri kedua pelaku, korban pertengkaran mulut karena melakukan penganiayaan yang berujung pembacokan dengan menggunakan pisau, pelaku juga korban korban dengan korban gunung.
