I believe it is possible to get to know the crypto world by studying the major cryptocurrencies. For this reason, in my previous articles, I tried to examine and explain Bitcoin and Ethereum.

In this article, I would like to examine Ripple(XRP), which is the 3rd biggest crypto with the current market value of 17.78 billion dollars.

Ripple was released in 2013 as crypto, although its history extended until 2004. 

Ripple's something completely different Bitcoin. Banks use Ripple as a back-end infrastructure. Ripple is an open source infrastructure for global value exchange. Everyone can access the code and everyone has equal rights to use the code. Ripple does not control or limit access to the network, it only charges for use.

Ripple is a real-time payment protocol that works in a distributed architecture that can be used for every valuable asset. Ripple positions itself as the first universal translator for money.  Ripple exchange is currency agnostic and has a trading exchange component embedded in the software protocol. Ripple acts like a pathfinding algorithm that finds the best route for transmission of any valuable asset, such as Bitcoin, euro, dollar, or airline miles. The Ripple protocol is designed to route each purchase order to the lowest price on the market.

Ripple is acting with the vision of a safe, instant and free circulation of money in the world, similar to information.

Ripple also serves as a currency that is a bridge between any two currencies or assets. If a currency can be converted into Ripple, it can also be converted into other currencies to which ripple is linked. By design, 100 billion XRP was originally produced and no extra XRP can be created by protocol rules.

There are 3 main solutions Ripple provide: xCurrent, xRapid, xVia

xCurrent is for instant and certain settlement.

xRapid is used for low-cost liquidity.

**Ripple's Strengths**

Currently, there is more than 155 trillion dollars worth of asset transfers in the world. Ripple is a platform that is willing to mediate this high amount of valuable asset transfer. It argues that the existing money transfer infrastructure is obsolete and can no longer meet the need. With its Ripplenet infrastructure, it aims to create an unobstructed and practical money flow around the world. 

Scaling is an important advantage of Ripple. The ripple network allows for 1000 transactions per second. It is active 24/7 and has the same trading capacity as Visa. On the other hand, Bitcoin performs 3 to 6 per second, and Ethereum performs around 15 processes per second.

The consortium formed by Ripple in October 2016 has more than 75 members consist of global banks. Bank of America, RBC, Standard Chartered, UBS, and Akbank are examples. In July 2017, 61 Japanese banks were included in the system. These banks constitute 80% of the asset size of the Japanese banking sector. Ripple provides up to 60% savings in banks' transfer transactions.

Ripple has been operating since 2013 with a strong cadre of software and engineers. Ripple operations take place in 4 seconds. Compared to Ethereum's 2-minute and Bitcoin's 10-15 minute processing times, this performance seems impressive. Transfers by Ripple is cheaper and faster.

Ripple's total number of limited 100 billion supports the price in a positive way. Ripple company is burning XRPs they take as the fee for transactions.

**Ripple's Weaknesses**

There are 39,32 billion XRPs in circulation. The total supply of XRP is 100 billion. Currently, Ripple company has 60.7 billion unreleased XRPs. This shows that the company is very effective on the price. Individual investors who invest in Ripple have to rely on the company's goodwill.

Ripple owes its fast processing capability to the fact that its structure is less distributed than block chains of Bitcoin and Ethereum. The company's high control over the price and infrastructure and relatively low distribution are contrary to the spirit of the crypto world.

Ripple is an infrastructure focused on Global Fund transfer. Ripple's function can be likened to sending e-mail in this sense. However, infrastructures such as the Ethereum and Neo, potentially address much wider areas of activity. In this sense, Ethereum and Neo can be compared to a kind of marketplace or operating system that is much more inclusive than an e-mail service.

**XRP Price Analysis**

I showed XRP's price movement on a chart, and I've tried to predict the future price by adding a linear trend line to the chart. The graph shows the price trend since August 4, 2013, when XRP started trading.

The R square value of the red trend line I added to the chart is 0,2994. Tihs means the trend line doesn't explain the data well. Since prices in the crypto world are too volatile, we do not have a reliable source of reference other than the trend, which refers to an average of long-term prices. 

According to the trend line, ripple(XRP) "expected" actual price of XRP is 0.54 USD and the "expected" price for the end of the year is 0.61 USD.

**Conclusion**

Ripple provides an innovative infrastructure for banks and payment companies in international fund transfer and creates a significant value. On the other hand, the way it works doesn't seem to fit the spirit of the crypto world. 

I do not see a dramatic price increase potential when I compare the current price of 0.4518 USD with the long-term trend of the XRP price. In a market where prices are so volatile, all sorts of price movements are possible, and Ripple's average price trend may move up.

Still, according to the data at hand, Ripple doesn't seem very attractive to me. Besides, from the philosophical point of view, XRP is not a currency that fits the soul of the blockchain world as all the coins were premined by Ripple and are slowly released into the markets.

**Ripple(XRP) Analizi**

Bu yazımda ise halen 17,78 milyar dolar piyasa değeriyle kripto dünyasında 3. sırada olan Ripple'ı incelemeye çalışacağım. 

Geçmişi 2004 yılına kadar uzansa da Ripple bir kripto para olarak 2013 yılında piyasaya çıktı. 

Ripple'a Bitcoin'den tamamen farklı bir şey olarak bakmak gerekir. Ripple bankaların kullanımı için ortaya çıkmış bir arka plan altyapısıdır. Ripple küresel değer değişimi için bir açık kaynak kodudur. Koda herkes erişebilir ve herkes kodu kullanmak için eşit hakka sahiptir. Ripple şirketi, ağı kontrol etmez veya erişimi sınırlamaz, sadece kullanım ücreti tahsil etmektedir.

Ripple değerli her varlık için kullanılabilen, dağıtık mimaride çalışan, gerçek zamanlı bir ödeme protokolüdür. Ripple kendisini para için ilk evrensel çevirmen olarak konumlandırmaktadır.  Ripple döviz agnostiktir ve yazılım protokolüne gömülü bir alım-satım borsası bileşenine sahiptir. Ripple, Bitcoin, Euro, Dolar veya havayolu mili gibi herhangi bir değerli varlığın iletilmesi için en iyi rotayı bulan bir pathfinding algoritması gibi davranır. Ripple protokolü, verilen her alım emrini piyasadaki en ucuz fiyata yönlendirmek için tasarlanmıştır.

Ripple dünyada paranın küresel çapta bilgiye benzer biçimde güvenli, anlık ve ücretsiz olarak dolaşması vizyonuyla hareket etmektedir.

Ripple ayrıca herhangi iki para birimi veya değerli varlık arasında köprü olan bir para birimi olarak hizmet vermektedir. Bir para birimi Ripple'a dönüşebiliyorsa Ripple'ın bağlantılı olduğu diğer para birimlerine de dönüşebilmektedir. Tasarım gereği, Ripple başlangıçta 100 milyar XRP olarak üretildi ve protokol kurallarına göre artık XRP oluşturulamıyor.

**Ripple'ın Güçlü Yanları**

Halen dünyada 155 trilyon doları aşan varlık ülkeler arasında hareket etmektedir. Ripple bu yüksek miktardaki değerli varlık transferine aracılık etmeye aday bir platformdur. Mevcut para transferi altyapısının eskidiğini ve artık ihtiyacı karşılayamadığını savunmaktadır. Ripplenet altyapısıyla dünya genelinde engelsiz ve pratik bir para akışı ekosistemi yaratmayı amaçlamaktadır. 

 Ölçeklenebilir olması Ripple'ın önemli bir avantajı olarak görülmektedir. Ripple ağı saniyede 1000 işlem yapmaya imkan sağlamaktadır. 7/24 aktiftir ve Visa ile aynı işlem kapasitesine sahiptir. Buna karşılık Bitcoin saniyede 3 ila 6, Ethereum ise 15 işlem gerçekleştirmektedir.

Ripple'ın oluşturduğu ve Ekim 2016'de devreye aldığı konsorsiyuma 75'den fazla global banka üyedir. Bu bankalar arasında Bank of Amerika, RBC, Standart Chartered, UBS ver Akbank gibi bankalar bulunmaktadır. Temmuz 2017'de 61 Japon bankası sisteme dahil olmuştur. Bu bankalar Japon bankacılık sektörünün varlık büyüklüğünün %80'ini oluşturmaktadır. Ripple bankaların transfer işlemlerine ilişkin mutabakat giderlerinde %60'a varan tasarruf sağlamaktadır.

Ripple 2013 yılından bu yana güçlü bir yazılımcı ve mühendis kadrosuyla faaliyet göstermektedir. Ripple işlemleri 4 saniye gibi bir sürede gerçekleşmektedir. Ethereum'un 2 dakikalık ve Bitcoin'in 10-15 dakikalık işlem süreleriyle kıyaslandığında bu performans etkileyici görünmektedir. 

Ripple'ın 100 milyar adetle sınırlanmış toplam adedi fiyatı olumlu yönde desteklemektedir. Ripple şirketine XRP cinsinden ödenen sembolik gönderim ücreti şirket tarafından işlem sonrasında imha edilmektedir.

**Ripple'ın Zayıf Yanları**

Halen dolaşımda 39,32 milyar adet XRP bulunmaktadır. Toplam XRP arzı ise 100 milyar olacaktır. Halen Ripple şirketinin elinde 60,7 milyar adet piyasaya sürülmemiş XRP bulunmaktadır. Bu durum şirketin fiyat üzerinde çok etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Ripple'a yatırım yapan bireysel yatırımcılar şirketin iyi niyetine güvenmek durumundadır.

Ripple hızlı işlem yapabilme özelliğini yapısının Bitcoin ve Ethereum gibi blok zincilerine kıyasla daha az dağıtık olmasına borçludur. Şirketin altyapı üzerindeki yüksek kontrolü ve görece az dağıtık olma hali kripto para dünyasının ruhuna aykırı bir görüntü oluşturmaktadır.

Ripple global fon transferine odaklanmış bir altyapıdır. Ripple'ın fonksiyonu bu anlamda e-posta gönderimine benzetilebilir. Oysa Ethereum, Neo gibi altyapılar potansiyel olarak çok daha geniş faaliyet alanlarına hitap etmektedir. Bu anlamda Ethereum ve Neo e-posta hizmetinden çok daha kapsayıcı olan bir tür pazar yerine ya da işletim sistemine benzetilebilir.

**Ripple Fiyat İncelemesi**

Bu türden yazılarda adet edindiğim üzere piyasaya çıktığı günden bu yana Ripple'ın fiyat hareketini bir grafik üzerinde gösterdim ve grafiğe doğrusal bir trend çizgisi ekleyerek gelecekteki fiyatını tahmin etmeye çalıştım. Grafik Ripple'ın işlem görmeye başladığı 4 Ağustos 2013 tarihinden bugüne fiyat gelişimini gösteriyor.

Grafiğe eklediğim kırmızı  trend çizgisinin r kare değeri 0,2994. Grafiği iyi açıkladığı söylenemez. Kripto dünyasında fiyatlar çok oynak olduğu için, uzun vadeli fiyatların bir tür iyileştirilmiş ortalamasını ifade eden böylesi bir veri dışında güvenilir bir başvuru kaynağımız bulunmuyor. 

Trend çizgisine göre Ripple(XRP)'ın bugünkü "beklenen" fiyatı 0,5454 ve yıl sonu için "beklenen" fiyatı 0,6078. 

**Sonuç**

Ripple uluslarası fon transferi konusunda bankalar ve ödeme şirketlerine yenilikçi bir altyapı sunuyor ve ciddi bir değer yaratıyor. Öte yandan, işleri yürütme tarzı kripto dünyasının ruhuna çok uygun görünmüyor. 

Halen 0,4518 USD olan mevcut fiyatı ile XRP fiyatının uzun vadeli gelişimini kıyasladığımda dramatik bir fiyat artış potansiyeli görmüyorum. Fiyatların böylesi oynak olduğu bir piyasada elbet her tür fiyat hareketi mümkün, Ripple'ın ortalama fiyat gelişim performansını yukarıya taşıma olasılığı da mevcut.

Yine de eldeki verilere göre Ripple bana çok cazip görünmüyor. Bu bakış açısında Ripple'ın blok zinciri dünyasının ruhuna uygun bir para birimi olmaması da etkili.

Ne blok zinciri, ne de yatırım konusunda uzman değilim. Buraya yazdıklarım amatör bir yatırımcının bir kripto para hakkında öğrendiklerini paylaşma çabası olarak değerlendirilmelidir.
