This is the second post in my series outlining what I believe are the most important cards to level up in each splinter. For those who don't want to spend the money leveling up all the cards, here's a guide for the Death splinter.

## Essential cards

In my opinion, there are 2 must have cards for the Death splinter:

* Haunted Spirit - because it is a great counter to magic, as it has Void and Magic Reflect abilities, plus is also has the Heal ability, making it a strong tank at the front
* Undead Priest - this is also a must have card because it only has a 2 mana cost, and both Weaken and Slow abilities. It also has good health for a 2 mana monster.
## Good to have cards

* Skeleton assassin - If you want a quick sneak monster, the Skeleton assassin is a great option, especially with its Poison ability.
* Haunted Spider - This is another death monster with the Poison ability, and with a 3 damage Range Attack, it makes it a good option in any team.
* Screaming Banshee - The Banshee is a great attacking monster with 3 Magic Damage and the Blast ability, and only costing 3 mana. However it only has 3 health making it very vulnerable to any attack, especially Magic Reflect.
* Dark Enchantress - The Dark Enchantress is a very attacking monster with 4 Magic Attack, and more importantly it has the Stun ability making it very dangerous. However, it is on the expensive side, costing 6 mana.
* Twisted Jesta - this is a great monster to have in any team as it has the Snype ability, along with the Dodge ability.
The above monsters would cover perhaps 95% of my death teams, and I believe would be enough variety to compose a number of variations to fit different mana caps and rules. However, in certain situations, the Animated Corpse is a good replacement for the Haunted Spider as it has 1 less mana cost.
