Drama in Peniche - someone had had a bad day at the office.

Every now and then, Neptune wakes up and gently - or not so gently - reminds us about his power.
While big waves are quite common in winterly Nazaré, Portugal, due to a deep, deep underwater canyon, sometimes the ocean gets so wild that even further down the coast, in Peniche, it becomes natures most beautiful and dramatic play.
February 28th this year was one of these days - joined by, incredibly enough, sunshine and great weather.
Somewhere out in the ocean Neptune had had a bad day at the office... And a day later this arrives:

Compare the size of the people on the cliff to the waves!

Even though it was absolutely massive that day in Nazaré, i´d decided to stay in Peniche since it is so rare down there to have huge waves, and also because we had sun and Nazaré didn´t.
It was well worth it - just look at this:

The good weather didn´t last for long, but apparently the dark clouds provided an even better and slightly more dramatic background. Due to Peniches very unique shape, you are able to see the big ones rolling in from behind, which looks absolutely stunning.
