Fast food gets vilified for a lot of reasons and most of them are pretty good.  Personally, I like a lot of Americans, really like fast food because well, it is food and it is ready really fast.  I love that I can go to a places and have my food ready to rock and roll in just a few minutes.

There are a lot of things about a fast food meal that are bad for you but what you might not be aware of is that not everything in a fast food restaurant is terrible like they lead you to believe in all of the documentaries were some asshole is trying to convince everyone to eat organic beans for every meal with a side of kale.  

Most of what is wrong with fast food isn't actually the main dish but the things that you get with it

If you go and get just about anything at any restaurant they are going to have almost mandatory fries and coke or something similar to it that comes along with almost anything.  

French fries / chips aren't necessarily bad for you, it's just the AMOUNT of them that we are given that is out of control.  A large order of fries, for most people, is probably about twice as much as you should eat for an entire meal, let alone as a side dish and Coca-Cola?  Well, that is probably the most egregiously terrible-for-you invention of the last 100 years other than some of the ridiculous beverages they sell at Starbucks.  

You can go to just about any fast-food restaurant and fine a somewhat healthy option on offer, you just need to skip the fries and coke if you want to make it easy on your gut.   At least in USA the restaurants are now required to make all the nutritional information easily available to customers and you really should take advantage of this.  If you don't have time for this a good rule of thumb is just do skip the fries and a coke and you are probably ending up with something that is a lot less terrible for you than you think.
