The exponential growth of steemit has come in response to a network effect, a lot of which is as a result of media coverage in the cryptocurrency community and much of it through the word of mouth. This is good. The general public is becoming more aware of the fact that cryptocurrency exist because of steemit, but with growth comes the question of sustenance. Just like any large system when there are more variables there is a higher likelihood of inequality and chaos. I do believe that with the current system, even if a newcomer writes great content it will be very difficult for them to get noticed when they are overshadowed by the larger similar content posting whales that most users will gravitate to at the top of the page. Though successful <b> [black swan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_swan_theory)</b> posts are seen occasionally, I generally think this is true and will remain true for awhile. I definitely believe that with persistence anyone can succeed, but with a system such as steemit that has gotten such exposure and exponential growth in such a short amount of time, <b>persisting with great content might just not be enough to make it on here</b>.
